The recording is about 40 seconds before it cuts off. Makes me think this might be one of those scams where you get billed if you pick up the phone??

They asked for the MD by his first name, saying he’d signed some merchant account deal. When I said the Finance Director might sort it, they said since it was money related (even though we’re a LTD company) they couldn’t talk about it and just put the phone down. Really impolite.

I picked up and there was silence for a good few seconds. Then a click, like someone joined the call. A lady asked for our director using his first name. I told her he wasn’t around, and she hung up sharpish. Pretty sure it was just spam.

They keep calling nonstop mostly in the evening around 6pm, so I try not to pick up at those times.

They always ask to talk to the “owner” of the business, and when I say that’s me, they don’t seem to believe it and still want the “real owner.” I usually just hang up after a bit and now I’ve blocked the number. Would seriously recommend steering clear of this one. It’s crazy that people are working for shady companies like this.

Got a call asking for our Director by name, but the person didn’t bother to say who they were first. When I asked who was calling, they just said ‘Winston’ - probably a made-up name they always use. I asked where they were from, they said Payzone. Didn’t want to leave any message, said they’d ring back next week and then just ended the call suddenly. Really rude behaviour. Just a heads up, folks.

Got a call from 0116 201 8482 from someone called “Winston”. He wouldn’t say where he was calling from but knew my boss’s name and asked to speak to him. He didn’t leave any message either. After looking the number up, turns out it’s Payzone! They ring all the time, but always with some new tactic, trying to get through. Proper annoying and pointless calls.

They keep ringing non-stop but whenever I pick up, there's nobody on the other end and the line just goes dead. I called them back and told them to remove us from whatever list they've got, as we're signed up to the telephone preference service (if you’re not, you really should be), so these calls are actually against the law.

@ bloke claiming to be from Payzone or something linked to Barclaycard. He was looking for the MD and seemed pretty insistent. Then he mentioned it was about a merchant account. I told him we already have one, so he switched to wanting to talk to the MD about some financial issue. I told him the best way to reach him is by email or post. Then he said he’s got my MD’s mobile number and would follow up there (no idea what enquiry he means?!). Seems like a dodgy call to me.
