This number called me a couple of times today but as soon as I answered, they hung up straight away. If they ring back and someone talks, I plan to ask them to wait on the line while I go answer the door. I won’t say a word after that, just leave them waiting until they get bored and hang up. That way, they end up wasting their own money. It works well because after a few tries, they start to realise you’re the one messing about, and while they’re stuck on your line, they can’t bother anyone else. It’s a bit satisfying knowing you’ve managed to turn the tables on them.

She told them to ring me instead, so when they called back, I was pretty suspicious. The guy kept firing questions at me but wouldn’t answer any of mine. Just got a call at 12:36pm today and the moment i picked up the phone the line just dropped. I tried 1471 to check the number and it showed me the same one. I really can’t figure out how these firms manage to track down numbers that’re supposed to be ex-directory. If they’re up for a bit of a game then fine, I’m ready for it ‘cos my phone is connected to my pc so I usually get to see who’s calling before I even pick up. My previous contact list turned out to be utterly pointless. Honestly, these businesses ought to fork out cash if they want access to people's phone numbers! They simply use automated dialling systems that start from 000000001 and go from there. Each company maintains its own records of numbers that are deemed invalid, those that ring but don’t answer (you know, the ones that make you want to ring back), and of course, they keep tabs on the numbers that actually pick up, which they can then sell on to others. I’ve had a couple of calls like this myself, and after one popped up yesterday, I reached out to TalkTalk to see if maybe someone had somehow accessed their system to grab my info. They got back to me pretty quickly, definitely less than 72 hours, apologising for their marketing calls and said they’d take me off their list, which apparently can take up to 28 days. So, seems like it was actually TalkTalk behind it all. You buy a product from them, then every time you use it, you get bombarded with adverts, plus when you check your online account, it’s full of TV adverts and more broadband upsell stuff - by the time you finally reach your account, you’ve totally forgotten what you even wanted in the first place!

Over the past couple of weeks, this number has rang me about 6 times. Every time I pick up, there's just silence or sometimes I'm not home, but I never get a voicemail. It's really annoying. Can someone please do something to put an end to these calls? They're driving me mad.

So, two days back they phoned once more, and I just told them I was doubtful they were actually from TalkTalk. Oddly enough, he dropped my password, which is strong and unique to nowhere else. I made it clear I didn’t want any more calls. Proper annoying thing was, I lost the last three minutes of a film I was watching because of it. The fastest way to shut them up seems to be getting a bit mad at them. I’ve gone ahead and set them up on the last caller block - TalkTalk offers this for free, but you have to turn it on yourself. You can do it online under the my account section or by dialling 14258 then **. I’m curious if they’ll come back trying from some different call centre now?

So, I got a call from this number a couple days back and they already knew my name, that I’m with TalkTalk, and even details about the boosts I’ve got on my phone. They also mentioned a discount I received a while ago from someone in their customer retention department. Honestly, the only way they could have gotten that info is if they either have direct access to TalkTalk’s database or somehow broke into my online TalkTalk account and snooped around in the ‘My Account’ section. Pretty creepy if you ask me.

I get calls from this number pretty much every day, and no clue how to block them. Since they never bother to leave a message, I just assume it's not anything worth my time!

This number has rung me a few times but I never picked up. My husband once answered by accident and the person said they were from TalkTalk. Since we’ve already blocked all marketing calls from TalkTalk, he just hung up straight away.
