If they dare to ring again and actually engage in conversation, I plan to ask them to hang on a moment while I answer the door. I won’t utter another word; I’ll just let them stay on the line in deafening silence until they grow weary of waiting and finally hang up. It’s a brilliant tactic! They end up bearing all the costs for an idle chat. After a few of these attempts, they’ll surely get the hint that I’m not the one to waste time on. They simply use automated dialling systems that start from 000000001 and go from there. Each company maintains its own records of numbers that are deemed invalid, those that ring but don’t answer (you know, the ones that make you want to ring back), and of course, they keep tabs on the numbers that actually pick up, which they can then sell on to others. I've encountered a fair few of these calls lately, and after getting another one yesterday, I reached out to TalkTalk to see if perhaps someone had managed to infiltrate their system and access my information. I was pleasantly surprised when their response arrived in just a couple of hours, rather than the stated 72. They apologised profusely for the marketing nuisance and assured me that I would be taken off their mailing list, although it might take up to 28 days to fully process. It appears they're indeed the culprits! Every time you purchase something, they bombard you with offers for additional products. The moment you try to log in to your online account, you’re met with a barrage of adverts - first for TV services, then for high-speed broadband - by the time you finally navigate the relentless marketing onslaught and access your account, you've completely forgotten what you intended to do in the first place!

I received a call from a chap who seemed to know my name and asserted he was representing TalkTalk. He went on about some supposed international calls linked to my account, but I'm absolutely certain that’s not the case. I just got off the phone with TalkTalk, and they assured me that there are no international charges on my statement, and importantly, they didn’t place a call to me earlier today. This is clearly a scam! Be wary and don’t share any details.

I've received yet another three calls in the span of three days, and they seem to be familiar with my name. What's even more unsettling is that they refuse to converse with anyone except for me. Quite concerning, to say the least.

Is this the same lot? They have a base in Nottingham and the number you get when you call matches theirs. If it's indeed them, then they must have complete access to the TalkTalk database, including passwords for accounts as mentioned in last week's discussions. The link above provides their full address. I’ve completely lost patience with that ‘captcha’ nonsense on the contact page at the bottom!

Over the past fortnight, I've received around six calls from this particular number. Each time I pick up, there’s nothing but silence on the other end, and on occasions when I've missed the call, they haven't bothered to leave a voicemail. It's proving to be terribly irritating. Surely someone can put a stop to this nonsense?

Just a couple of days ago, they decided to give me another bell. I wasn’t having any of it, so I questioned their legitimacy as TalkTalk representatives. To my surprise, the chap revealed my password, which is not something you could ever guess and is entirely unique. I promptly instructed them not to contact me again. The most frustrating part? I ended up missing the final few moments of a film I was engrossed in. It seems the only effective tactic to send them packing is to lose your temper with them. I’ve also taken the liberty of adding them to the last caller blocking service (a complimentary solution provided by TalkTalk, though you need to activate it first - it’s pretty straightforward through the ‘My Account’ section, or just dial 14258 followed by **). Now I’m left wondering if they’ll try to ring from a different call centre next time!

I received a call from this number a couple of days back, and it was rather unsettling as they addressed me by name and seemed to have detailed knowledge of my TalkTalk account. They rattled off specifics about the perks I’ve got on my phone, even mentioning a discount that was arranged by someone from the customer retention team a while back. Honestly, it’s a bit alarming. There are only two plausible explanations for how they could possess such private information; either they’ve managed to gain access to TalkTalk’s database, or they’ve somehow breached my online account and were snooping around my account details.

I receive calls from this number nearly every day, and I can’t seem to put an end to it. They never bother to leave a message, so to me, it’s clearly not anything of consequence!

I've received multiple calls from this number but decided not to pick up. However, my husband accidentally answered one time, and they claimed to be from TalkTalk. He quickly hung up since we had already requested to block all those pesky marketing calls from them.
