There's been a rather persistent knocking on doors around Ecton in Northampton lately. A mystery woman showed up, didn’t reveal who she was, and handed out raffle tickets for a chance to win a Nissan Micra. She claimed she wasn’t selling anything at all, yet sought our names and phone numbers, which we politely declined to provide. She insisted that the ticket wouldn’t hold any validity without our details. Despite not sharing our information, I did a bit of digging online and stumbled upon this site as well as another blog detailing a similar scam tied to carpet cleaning services. I’m definitely going to inform my neighbours and report this to the local police as a precaution to ensure many folks are aware of this situation.

On the 12th of April, 2011, there was a visit from this firm in the Beeston/Chilwell area. My encounter mirrored those shared previously - they didn’t bother with any identification, were rather hasty in requesting personal details, and then promptly made their exit. Quite the bizarre experience!

My partner is employed by them, and I can assure you, they’re really not trying to push any products on you. They simply wish to take about an hour of your time to showcase what they offer, and if it piques your interest, you might have a chat with him over the phone. But rest assured, there’s no pressure at all! What’s the harm in that? We’ve all got to earn a living somehow these days! Plus, the prize draw is genuinely legit, so you might just end up winning some cash just for hearing someone out for an hour! 😊

I received a flyer and shortly after got a call from them. I didn’t take them up on their offer, but my neighbour did. She had one of their representatives come over to check out their cleaning products, and he ended up cleaning three of her rugs. Ever since, she hasn't stopped raving about it, saying he was exceedingly polite, very friendly, and not at all the pushy sales type I’d imagined he might be. Honestly, I took a look at her rugs, and they’re practically spotless, especially impressive given that she has a dog that seems to have claimed one as its own! In summary, she’s declared it a positive experience, and the agent followed through precisely on what they had promised over the phone and in the flyer-just a promotion for their product with no pressure whatsoever, merely a request to pass it on. I must admit, I had been rather sceptical, dismissing it as just another scam like many do these days. However, I’m pleased to admit my error; it’s easy to judge hastily when we’re bombarded with calls from various companies, often lumping all of them together as less than reputable when that’s clearly not the case. Now, I somewhat regret brushing it off so easily.
