10 yearsGot a call from a man with an Indian accent saying he was from BT and needed me to enter a code on my computer. Definitely a scam.BT10 yearsGot a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT saying there were issues with my internet. Played along for a bit, then asked him to give me my BT account number to prove he was legit. He just told me it was up to me if I wanted to trust him and then he ended the call.BT10 yearsJust to share my experience, I received a call from someone claiming my internet was compromised. When I expressed my scepticism, he provided a number to confirm his story: 01618186978. He identified himself as Abraham and mentioned an ID of ds19473. After using 1471, I noted another number, 01159406088 from Nottingham. A quick search online confirmed my suspicions-it’s clearly a SCAM!AbrahamNottingham10 yearsI received two phone calls from this number earlier today. An Asian gentleman on the line claimed to be from BT's Technical Services, offering assistance with what he described as an issue with my broadband. Given that I had just spent the past six months dealing with a broadband headache and had only resolved it an hour prior-literally just at nine o'clock-I immediately recognised the ruse and called him out on it! Undeterred, he rang me back and insisted he'd touch base again within the hour, ominously warning that my broadband would be disconnected in the meantime. It's maddening to encounter such persistent and likely fraudulent characters; they pose a real threat and deserve to be held accountable! Surely there must be a method to trace this spurious phone number back to its origins.BTTechnical Services10 yearsGot a call from an Asian bloke named "David Parker". He tried telling me my line’s been hacked, all lies. How come these numbers aren’t getting blacklisted yet?David Parker10 yearsMy elderly family members got a call from this number saying they were from BT, but they aren’t even BT customers. They asked for passwords which is just wrong. These people are scammers and it’s awful how they target older folks like that.BT10 yearsReceived two calls earlier today. On the first one, a lady with an Asian accent began probing me about my computer, prompting me to hang up quite quickly. The second call was just silence, followed by a curt "goodbye." When I attempted to return the call, I was met with a message saying "telephone number not recognised." We have a call blocking feature for anonymous numbers on our landline, yet these call centres appear to have found a way around it, using clever software that conceals their actual number. I suppose it’s back to my usual tactic of bombarding them with questions before they manage to speak!10 yearsSomebody rang claiming to be from BT tech support, said there was an issue with lines in my area and gave my exact postcode (which was freaky), said my internet would go down though I dont even use BT. I knew IT was dodgy so I just played along for a bit. They tried to get me to visit a website, but I pretended I didn’t understand and after a while she called me a monkey and hung up. Anyone with a BT connection might get caught out if they arent careful about these scams.BT10 yearsI received a call from a chap with an Asian accent who addressed me by name and purported to be calling from BT regarding my internet service. The funny thing is, I've never been a customer of BT at all. I often wonder if any lawmakers or telecom representatives take the time to read these sorts of reviews. Let me be crystal clear: these types of calls are nothing short of attempted fraud and ought to be both blocked at the outset and prosecuted as well. Surely, it's within the realm of possibility for telecommunications companies to track these kinds of calls and cross-reference them against a central database of suspicious numbers or those that simply don't match up with authentic sources.BT10 yearsReceived a rather unexpected call from this number earlier today. A lady on the other end claimed to be representing BT, inquiring about my internet connection. I promptly informed her that we don’t even use BT. To my surprise, she insisted that BT supplies broadband services through various providers. Then came the part where she requested to verify my name. Naturally, I declined to share any personal information over the phone, especially with someone I couldn't confirm as legitimate. She ominously warned me that my internet could face a three-day cut-off. When I suggested she send the information in writing, she instead asked for my email address, which I refused to provide. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!BT10 yearsThis morning I got a call from the same number, claiming there was an issue with my BT landline. I told them I’m not even with BT, but they just kept twisting the conversation, acting like they were cleverer than me - which they definitely weren’t. Like I’m gonna switch on my computer and follow some nonsense to hack their machine or whatever. Seeing the other comments about them targeting older folks, I really feel for them and hope they don’t get scammed. That goes for everyone, honestly.BT10 yearsSomeone said they were from BT's tech team, saying my internet was getting hacked and I had to follow some steps to fix it. Totally a scam, no doubt about it.BT Tech Support10 yearsI actually enjoy when these lot ring me up, gives me about 20 minutes of a laugh pretending i dont know what im doing and getting them to guide me through booting up my computer. Just had one about 10 minutes back, the lady from India ended up telling me to chuck my computer away since i couldnt turn it on properly. I told her it makes a bril paperweight! While messin about on the call, they aint bothering other folks, so it’s all good really.10 yearsGot a call from an Asian woman, there was an echo on the line. I knew right away it was a scam so I told them and hung up. If you get a random call and the person’s got an Asian accent, chances are pretty high it’s a scam. Funny enough, I’d actually phoned BT support the day before. While it was installing, he started asking what I use the internet for, like email, online shopping, gaming and that. They’d rung me a couple of days ago but I was busy so didn’t answer properly. Naturally, I was immediately a bit dubious, especially since I don't even have a separate line! She wanted me to follow her steps to ‘resolve’ the issue on their end, but I had my doubts. The number flashed up as being from Nottingham yet oddly labelled as international. To be honest, BT will never phone you about problems; it's always best to get in touch with them directly.
