Pretty much the same story, he claimed my internet was getting hacked. I told him I wasn’t convinced and then he handed me a number to call back on: 01618 186978. He said his name was Abraham and gave some ID like ds19473. I did a 1471 and got 01159 406088. Had a quick google of the numbers and, as I thought, it turned out to be a total scam from Nottingham!

This morning I got two calls from this number. A bloke with an Asian accent said he was from BT Technical Support and wanted to help fix an issue with my internet. I’d just spent six months trying to get my broadband problem resolved, finally getting it sorted at 9am today, so I knew straight away it was a scam. I told him that, but it didn’t stop the calls. He even threatened to cut off my internet and said he’d ring back in an hour. These scammers are really a menace and probably dangerous too. Someone should do something about tracking down where these fake numbers come from - they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with this!

My elderly family members got a call from this number saying they were from BT, but they aren’t even BT customers. They asked for passwords which is just wrong. These people are scammers and it’s awful how they target older folks like that.

Got two calls from this number today. The first time, it was a woman with an Asian accent who started asking about my PC, but I just hung up straight away. The second call was dead silent except for a quick "goodbye" before the line disconnected. When I tried ringing back, I got told the number isn’t valid. We’ve got caller ID blocking unknown numbers, but these call centres seem to be working around that with clever tech that masks their real caller ID. Looks like I’ll have to go back to grilling them with loads of questions before letting them say anything!

Somebody rang claiming to be from BT tech support, said there was an issue with lines in my area and gave my exact postcode (which was freaky), said my internet would go down though I dont even use BT. I knew IT was dodgy so I just played along for a bit. They tried to get me to visit a website, but I pretended I didn’t understand and after a while she called me a monkey and hung up. Anyone with a BT connection might get caught out if they arent careful about these scams.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent who asked for me by name, saying they were calling from BT regarding my internet. Trouble is, I’ve never had BT as my provider. Not sure if anyone in government or the phone companies actually checks these reviews, but it's clear these calls are scams and ought to be stopped or banned before they even ring us. Surely the telecom companies have the tech to track these numbers and check them against a list of known fraudsters or mismatched sources.

Got a ring from this number earlier, a woman claiming she was from BT regarding my internet. I told her I'm not a BT customer, but she insisted BT supplies broadband via various providers. She then asked me to verify my name, but I refused to share any personal info over the phone with someone I can't confirm. She then warned my internet would be cut off for 3 days. This morning I got a call from the same number, claiming there was an issue with my BT landline. I told them I’m not even with BT, but they just kept twisting the conversation, acting like they were cleverer than me - which they definitely weren’t. I actually enjoy when these lot ring me up, gives me about 20 minutes of a laugh pretending i dont know what im doing and getting them to guide me through booting up my computer. Got a call yesterday from someone claiming to be from BT using a fake name and ID number. They said my computer was slow 'cause of some corruption and wanted to fix it by accessing it remotely. They made me install loads of programmes and then asked me to log into my online bank. I said I wasn’t comfortable, and he replied saying he never asked for any personal info. Luckily, they tried to withdraw £222.22 but my bank blocked it just in time. Very glad about that!

This woman called claiming she was from BT, saying my internet was infected with a virus. Since I don't even have a separate line, I knew it sounded dodgy straight away. She tried to get me to do stuff to fix it but I refused. The number showed up as a Nottingham one but weirdly flagged as international. BT would never call out of the blue to warn you - you have to get in touch with them first. She’s rung me about eight times in the past hour now. Last time she phoned, she blamed my phone line for disconnecting mid-call!

Some bloke with a thick Asian accent rang me on my BT listed number claiming to be from BT, saying there was an issue with my internet because of some foreign IP stuff. I told him I’ve never been called by BT about problems before, I’m the one who usually has to ring them if anything’s wrong. Claimed the engineers had already done most of the repairs, like 70%, and just needed my help to finish it off. They seemed to know quite a bit about me, very believable story. A guy with a heavy Asian accent rang me on a terrible line saying he was Mark from NatWest’s Verification Team. We haven’t got any NatWest accounts but I played along and asked what he wanted. He kept questioning me about a £5,000 transfer from the UK to a bloke called Sam Morgan in America. Naturally, I said ‘yeah’ to see what he'd say next, and then he asked if I wanted to cancel the payment or let it go through. Got a bit worried then and just hung up on him.

Someone claiming to be a senior manager at BT called me, said his name was Alex White and his staff number was BT737721. He told me my computer had been hacked and said he’d guide me through steps to fix it. He even mentioned two supposed hackers named Mark Bradford and Rex Taylor. Halfway through, I got a bad feeling and told Alex I wasn’t comfortable with what he was asking me to do. He then offered to put me through to a tech guy to help, but I said no and hung up. After that, my phone kept buzzing for over 15 minutes, but I just ignored it.

Got a call from a bloke yesterday, sounded Indian. He actually knew my name, which was a bit odd. I asked him for his boss's name and a number to reach them on, but he just cut me off.

some guy calling himself sian white with a heavy asian accent said he was from bt and gave me a different number (01618186978) to prove he was legit, but i guessed it was dodgy so i called bt directly. they told me straight up - THATS A SCAM.

A guy with an Asian accent said he was John Abraham from BT’s tech support. He told me foreigners were trying to hack my IP address whenever I logged in. Funny thing is, the only one trying was him! He gave me a number to ring back - 01618186978. I knew it was dodgy so I didn’t give any details. When I asked him for my name and phone number, he got them wrong. The call ended quick when I told him he was a scammer. I reported it to BT and also to Action Fraud.

Today I got a call from this number, some bloke saying he was from BT technical support. I think I contacted them once before about something like this, and they told me they’d never phone me first. If there’s a problem, it’s on me to ring them up. Didn’t bother to listen further, just ended the call straight away.

Got a call from a woman with a heavy Asian accent saying she was from BT, wanting to discuss my broadband. Didn’t matter that I’m with Virgin Media - apparently, BT handles all broadband in the UK according to her. Pretty sure it was a scam attempt, so I just told her to get lost and ended the call!

Had a lady call me at least four times yesterday with a really strong accent, saying she was from BT and that there was maintenance work happening nearby. I just said thanks and ended the call. Then this morning, she rang back with another excuse, this time about updating my computer's security. I told her I was aware of scams like that, and when I later contacted BT, they confirmed they never call out of the blue. Haven't heard from her since!

I hung around for a minute or two before the caller finally answered. It was a bloke with quite the accent, asking if everything was alright with us. We decided to hang up without engaging further.
