Earlier today, my wife mentioned that they’ve introduced automated calls to enhance our security, and before proceeding, she kindly asked for our postcode to ensure she was chatting with the right person. Later, she mentioned that they have some agreements with Carphone Warehouse and inquired about my current BT plan and whether I was fully aware of our monthly expenses. As the call wrapped up, she expressed her gratitude for my time.

The light on our answerphone kept blinking, yet no one bothered to leave a message. We've received what feels like a barrage of calls-about thirty in total! We're baffled as to how these folk got hold of our number, especially since we're ex-directory and have no association with Barclays whatsoever. Honestly, we wish they'd just stop calling. It’s incredibly irritating to see a notification for a message only to find it’s silent! What a complete and utter drain on our time and energy. What on earth could these people possibly want?

We experienced something very similar just today! Our phone rang, and upon answering, we were met with a male voice on the other end (I said hello). But, after a brief moment, they hastily hung up. No idea who they were! We’re also on the Telephone Preference Service, mind you. Quite baffling, isn’t it?

Well, I’ve just had a call from them, and they were after someone who clearly doesn’t live here. They were on about a Mr X, but the only person here is a Miss X. When we pointed out that there’s no Mr X in the household, the phone just went silent. It’s listed on the Telephone Preference Service too, so it’s either flagged up on her end or she’s under some bonkers pressure to hit her call quota!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Barclays wife Finance, and honestly, what an annoying little character! He referred to me as "my love," but didn’t really get a chance to say much more.
