I've found their rates to be quite affordable! The individual I spoke with was extremely pleasant. My monthly costs have significantly dropped, and all my previous dues have been sorted out. I highly recommend reaching out to them!

Fraudulent phone calls

I received a rather unpleasant and aggressive phone call that claimed to be from my energy supplier, EDF. The caller had every bit of information about me, including my bank account details for direct debits. To make matters worse, he sent me an email from a [email protected] address, complete with a verification code, which only added to the confusion. When I requested to speak with a manager, I was transferred to someone who was just as rude and domineering, continually interrupting me. The background noise from their call centre was utterly chaotic. I later attempted to reach them again, only to encounter the same dismal attitude. I made it clear that I wasn’t prepared to disclose any personal information, yet they persist in trying to get in touch with me.

I received a call from someone claiming to be with our energy provider. They mentioned they needed to come round to swap out the meter and even provided a “number” for it. However, they started probing into our business details far too much and then had the audacity to ask for my bank information! Definitely sounds like a scam to me!

I got a call on this number from someone pretending to be with EDF asking for a meter reading. Since we have a smart meter, I found it a bit suspicious. The caller got quite annoyed but still gave me this number to ring back. So I looked up 1471 and found a completely different number, 02392160307.

Someone rang saying they were from British Gas, saying our meter was broken and needed swapping. When we didn’t give them any personal info, they got really rude and even said they’d cut off our supply. The number they used was 0115 8882731. We got in touch with our actual electricity company, who said it was a scam and everything with our meter is fine. They also advised us to keep our account details private.

Annoyingly assertive bloke, rather brusque if you ask me. Seemed to be in a right rush, insisting he was representing Eon.

I've had this number pestering me for weeks now. They claim to be from Eon, going on about how my meter readings are all wrong and suggesting they need to replace it, promising a refund as well. But then they start probing for personal details, which raises my eyebrows, to say the least. Honestly, I'm always a bit wary of those who call me; if they're legitimate, shouldn't they already have my information? To be fair, they do seem fairly convincing. I might have ended up falling for it if it weren’t for the fact that I happen to have two meters they clearly weren’t aware of!

I was under the impression I was communicating directly with Eon Next. They assured me that refunds would be issued for any excess payments on my account. We even arranged a specific date for the installation of a smart meter. Additionally, I went ahead and signed a contract for the upcoming year.

Been getting loads of calls from someone claiming to be Octopus Energy, always an Indian bloke on the line with loads of noise in the back. Later on, we got an email that looked real with the Octopus logo, saying our meter readings were off and included bits that seemed to be copied straight from the actual Octopus site. The wording was awful though - really obvious it’s fake - but the proper logos might fool some folks who aren’t paying close attention.

I encountered an incredibly curt lady who refused to disclose my service provider. Instead, she kept insisting that I have my meter at the ready, claiming there was an issue. In the end, she nearly raised her voice at me! It was quite satisfying to give her a taste of her own medicine! 😂

SCAM alert, Had a run-in with Scottish Power via their online chat, and then a couple days later got a call from this number regarding a supposed refund. They mentioned changing our meter and that there was a shortfall in readings, which the bloke on the phone (with an Indian accent) oddly seemed to know all about. Pretty sure it’s not legit, sounds like someone inside Scottish Power is leaking info to these scammers... stay sharp.

After an in-person check, I received a phone call purporting to be from our energy supplier. The caller urged me to ring back on a specific number to sort out a refund for overcharged payments and to arrange for smart meter installation. Naturally, I decided to contact the genuine energy provider, only to find out that it wasn't them reaching out at all. This was a blatant attempt at deception, aimed at fishing for my banking information!

Got a call from 02392160307 claiming they were with Scottish Power needing my meter reading. I told them I’d rather ring Scottish Power myself. The bloke got really annoyed and ended up calling me a daft woman before I just hung up. The accent sounded like an Indian call centre, but they gave a different number to ring back on, 01158882731.

This number 02392160307 keeps ringing me again and again. I picked up the first call, and the person claimed to be from British Gas, wanting to confirm some info and get my meter reading. But when I said I wasn’t comfortable sharing anything since they called me first, I asked them for the meter number. They couldn't give it to me and just said they’d ring back. I ended the call, but since then they've been trying to get through loads. Super annoying!
