Got a call from this number claiming to be from BT, saying that someone’s been using my internet for illegal stuff and they needed to investigate. I told them BT isn’t actually my internet provider, but they insisted they work with all companies. They asked for my address and name to 'look into' the problem. I just ended the call there. Just like all those other calls, some bloke with a thick Asian accent said he was John from BT Openreach, telling me there was an issue with my internet. Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT, but sounded like it came from an Indian call centre. They said my internet speed was slow and offered to fix it, asking about my download rates. Got a call from this number around 9.15 am today. The bloke sounded Indian and claimed he was calling from BT. I chose not to pick up the phone when that number rang, and surprise, surprise, no voicemail was left either. I keep my trusty BT Code Companion booklet right next to the phone for just such occasions, so I can quickly check the origin of any unfamiliar caller. After glancing through some comments regarding this particular number, I remembered receiving a call that was supposedly from BT. The gentleman on the line claimed to be calling from their office on Gracechurch Street in the City of London. Naturally, I inquired why the number he was using was registered to a town in Wales instead. I've since added this number to my 'CPR CallBlocker', which has proven to be an incredibly handy tool!

Got a call from a bloke with a strong Indian accent saying there was some problem with my BT Openreach line. He claimed my router was being hacked by folks abroad and that my service would be cut off for two months. The funny bit? I don’t even have BT! I played along just to keep myself busy during the dull Covid lockdown days. Had loads of calls from this number claiming to be BT Openreach, wanting me to give them access to my PC. Looks like they’re after my files or planning to lock my computer and then charge me to fix it once they’re in. Over the last week, I reckon I’ve had near a dozen calls like this. Sometimes they switch it up and pretend to be from Amazon or even HMRC. It’s a landline, so why hasn’t it been shut down yet? Feels like the police should be able to sort this out fast since it’s obviously illegal.

When I told him the screen showed a dial with a pointer, he seemed puzzled and didn’t get what a dial was, so I had to spell it out. Then he asked if I was having a laugh and just abruptly ended the call - pretty rude, if you ask me.
