Some bloke from India called asking for a business owner. It was the way he spoke and the time he called that made me a bit suspicious, so I ended up finding this site to check and report it. Looks like others have had similar experiences. Guess my gut feeling was right after all. Definitely watch out for these sorts of calls.

Utility fraudsters, beware!! Sadly, some people do fall for these tricks. Every single attempt like this should be flagged up to the police records. Just google 'action fraud', go to the 'police.uk' website, click on the 'reporting' tab, pick the phishing report option, then scroll past the scam email stuff to put in a report about this kind of scam. No need to sign up or anything. Apparently there’s over a million scam calls, texts and emails bombarding us every week. It would be amazing if everyone reported these dodgy calls. Take care out there, everyone.

A caller claimed to be from a UK power dept, saying we were paying too much and wanted to know our energy supplier. I told him if he really knew that, he’d already have that info. When I asked him to remove us from his list, he insisted on getting the details first but wouldn’t say which company he was with. Proper pushy and annoying. Had to hang up on him in the end.

Received two calls on the 21st of February. They rambled on about how they could assist me in retrieving an overpayment from my energy provider, but oddly enough, they didn’t seem to have a clue which supplier it was. Received a ring from someone claiming to be from India trying to scam me. Like I always do, I asked 'What exactly are you offering?'. He said he wasn’t selling anything but insisted that UK law says I must renegotiate my energy costs. I played along and kept him on the line for about 15-20 minutes acting like I was keen. The deal he offered was way pricier and he kept saying I had to accept it because of some UK law. Luckily, I sort out my energy prices straight with the providers myself. Just like a lot of others here, I got a call from National Grid complaining that my energy supplier is ripping me off. When I asked which company they meant, they couldn’t give me a straight answer. Feels like a total scam to me. Watch out!

I’m sick of these calls, they never stop ringing and then they start shouting down the phone. It’s really getting on my nerves having to pick up every single time.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who wouldn't say who he was representing. He insisted he’d got info from National Grid saying our electricity bill was way too high. I told him that’s not true, which seemed to annoy him, and he kept repeating we were overpaying. I ended the call. Then he rang again, and I challenged him to name my electricity provider if he knew so much. He refused, saying he wasn’t allowed to reveal it. When I pressed him about who he worked for, he said it didn’t matter, and by that point he was sounding pretty irate.

Got multiple calls from some bloke with an Indian accent saying he’s calling from the National Grid. He reckons there’s an issue with my power supply and says I’m not getting enough electricity! Weird and annoying.

Got a call from this number claiming to be national grid, saying there was an issue with my energy supply and they needed to shut down my British Gas account. Honestly, do they reckon I'm that daft? The moment I hear someone with an accent that isn’t local, I’m immediately suspicious. I’m pretty much on alert the second my phone starts ringing, usually expecting some sales pitch, even though I’m on the TPS list.
