Got a call from someone saying they were with the fire brigade, wanting to check our smoke alarms. They reckoned the council had given them my number, but said they might take it off their list if needed. I told them my mum’s not up for visitors right now but that I’d ask her about the smoke alarm check later. They said they’d ring back. Heard from someone this could be a scam, but based on what they said it sounds legit to me. Still, I’m puzzled why the council handed over my number when it’s my mum who's actually paying the rent - I’m just listed as another adult living here.
