It might just be another piece of the puzzle in the ongoing investigation into the so-called "improvement officer" at my workplace, who is embroiled in serious accusations regarding data protection breaches and other forms of bullying and misconduct. I've now blocked the number, of course. To add insult to injury, a whopping £1000 was taken from my account by these individuals on Monday. Thankfully, I contacted my bank straight away, and they were quick to reverse the transaction. My regular direct debit for Eon hasn't changed, so if that £1000 charge was legitimate, a reputable firm would have dealt with it in a far more professional manner. Just a heads up - tread carefully. It seems these folks might very well be facing scrutiny.

This number rang me 4 times in just 2 days. When I finally picked up, they said they were from Eon Next about my account. But then they kept asking for my full name and address. I kept asking what the problem with my account was, but they said they couldn’t tell me without that info. So I told them I’d get in touch with Eon Next to check and if it was legit, I’d call back. They agreed. I contacted Eon Next and they said they don’t think the number is theirs. They also checked my account and said there were no calls from them today. Definitely a scam!

Had a very similar thing happen to me. Was distracted with something else when I got the call. The woman didn’t say who she was straight away, sounded Asian. I had to ask who was on the line, she just said Eon, then started asking for security details. I was hesitant but ended up giving them. She told me my account was overdue and I needed to pay immediately. Didn’t give out any bank info though and called her out on it. Told her I spoke to Eon only the day before and her story didn’t match at all. I made it clear I wasn’t paying anything and then she just hung up on me.

At first, I thought it was a dodgy call since the lady didn’t ask for my account number but wanted my full name, address and email instead. I received a call from the number 0115 824 1629, and it turned out to be a scam. The caller claimed to be from E.ON, but upon looking into it, I discovered that the number is actually registered in Nottingham and has no connection to E.ON whatsoever. My advice? Don't share any personal information and insist on verifying their identity as E.ON representatives. They didn’t bother asking for any account number related to E.ON; instead, they were only interested in my date of birth and home address. Stay vigilant!

If you’re thinking that single comment claiming it’s not a scam is legit, just keep in mind email is super easy to hack. Best thing is to visit EON’s real website, call their genuine number and check if there’s anything wrong with your account. Then they said they’d email me to prove they’re genuine. Before they could start “confirming” my email, I just told them alright, talk soon, and hung up.
