Got a call from this number, just silence for a couple of seconds then a voice said "hello how are you today?" I could hear a lot of background noise like a call centre while he was talking. I asked “who’s this please?” and then the phone just went dead on me.

I suspect it was a nuisance call, probably some automated system checking if my number was active. When I answered, there was just dead air on the line. Quite irritating, really.

Picked up the phone and there was nothing but silence, then they just cut off after a couple of seconds. Seems like it was probably a wrong number or more likely one of those automated calls fishing for numbers to scam. If you’ve got voicemail switched on, best just let it ring and check if they leave a message instead of answering.
