4 yearsOn the 11th of August 2022, around 2 in the afternoon, I got a call from someone called Tiffany. She claimed their firm was ready to give me a tax refund plus extra money from the government that they supposedly owed me. Thing is, she refused to speak with me once she found out I don’t hold a British passport. I asked why, if I’m paying my taxes and following the same rules as anyone else in the UK, there was this discrimination. All she did was laugh. I told her to pass my query onto her manager and get back to me with an explanation about this clear unfairness. Instead, she just told me to visit their website (some tax refund service, I forget the name), without providing any proper info about the call or recording, even though these calls usually are recorded. She laughed again, asked yet again if I had a British passport - I told her that fairness should at least be an illusion, and I really wanted a proper answer.
