And don’t get me started on Action Fraud. Just last week, my phone was bombarded with Amazon scam calls from 07303 numbers. Even though I’m on the TPS and my number isn’t listed publicly, it makes no difference at all. Feels pointless really.

Got a call from 02084547463 saying it was BT Broadband, another scam! These BT broadband fraud calls are everywhere. Seriously, what do the TPS or ICO actually do? And what about Action Fraud? Just last week, I was getting loads of calls from 07303 numbers pretending to be Amazon - all ex-directory and even though I'm on the TPS. Feels like it doesn’t even make a difference.

Had calls from dodgy BT Broadband numbers, like 02084547463 - clearly scammers pretending to be from BT. Seriously, what’s TPS or ICO even doing about this? And don’t get me started on Action Fraud. Some bloke with an Asian accent rang me and claimed his name was John, saying he worked for Openreach. I told him I didn’t think that was right since I’m with Openreach myself (which isn’t true). I got a call from this number, the person said there was a problem with my internet that had been going on for days, which was rubbish because it's been fine for at least two weeks. I told him I’m not with BT and then either they hung up or the line dropped, probably because there's some roadworks nearby messing with the connection. Pro tip: don't ever hand over your details. If they’re calling you, they should already know who they’re speaking to. Usually they just hang up when you ask them for proof of who they are, which is quite funny really!

Some woman called, said she was with BT Openreach and working out of 81 Newgate Street in London. She told me my broadband speed had dropped. I played along just to find out what was up. Then she handed me over to a bloke from the tech team, who admitted they were both based in Bangalore. He tried to get me to log into teamviewer[###], which is legit but would give him access to my PC if I let him. When I said, “This seems dodgy, I’ll be reporting this to Action Fraud,” he lost his temper, called me a rude name, and hung up. At least I managed to waste about 15 minutes of their time!

They use a classic trick where they prey on people’s ignorance about their tech setups and security, trying to sneak into your computer to nick personal info.
