I got a call from AO.com trying to get me to buy insurance for an appliance I recently purchased. I told them I already have a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty. The bloke kept saying that warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage, but I explained I've got that covered through my home insurance. Despite that, he kept pushing hard to sell me their cover and just wouldn’t listen when I said no. I ended up telling him I’d never buy from them again, then he hung up and blocked my number. When I questioned why I should give out that info, they stopped sounding all professional and got a bit dodgy. They couldn’t even give me proper details of what I supposedly bought, which made me think they just got the info second or third hand from AO. Best steer clear - your appliances already come with warranties anyway.

They gave me some order info and then asked for my address - I thought it was genuine since they already had my email. Could tell exactly what I bought, then asked me for my address and email for some sort of confirmation. Then they started pitching me TV cover, saying it cost about five quid a month. Right after that, they immediately wanted my bank account number and sort code. It felt really pushy, like I didn’t have a choice about getting the cover. I got a call from this number saying they were from ao.com. They mentioned what I supposedly bought and wanted me to verify my address. Then they started going on about some protection plan for my purchase and kept pestering me for my bank sort code and account number. I was at work and said I didn’t have the info with me. Then they asked if I could use my phone for online banking to get the details, but I told them no way. They said they’d ring back about 6.30pm - shocker, never heard from them again!

I’ve received two calls from this number that I couldn’t answer. The first one came in at 5:45 PM on the 29th of December, and then another one today at midday on the 30th. Strangely enough, neither call came with a voicemail, leaving me in the dark about their intentions. Quite perplexing, really!
