I don’t usually answer calls from numbers that aren’t saved in my contacts. If they don’t leave a voicemail, I come here to see what experiences others have had before deciding to block them. Even though no one asked me, I’ll say this: DON’T ANSWER THESE CALLS. It just motivates those pesky people to keep trying. If everyone ignored them, I’m sure they’d give up. But sadly, there are always a few daft folks who end up answering.

Any legit firms I deal with would definitely have my up-to-date name. So, I just told them they’d got the wrong number, and the bloke ended the call straight away.

Some bloke rang asking about my husband who’s passed away. When I asked who it was, he got all hostile and told me it wasn’t my concern and demanded to speak to him. Later on he says he’s from a debt collection agency. Told him my husband had died, and he actually laughed and joked about using a ouija board to contact him. Proper rude, nasty and spammy call.

Got a call from an Asian lady claiming to be from a homecare service offering a deal of £129.99 for appliance renewal, sounded fishy straight away! Had a bit of fun messing with her, asked her to list which appliances are actually covered so I could check against my own plan. She got confused, kept pushing, saying I wouldn't understand everything. I told her she probably needs to upgrade her system if she can’t explain it properly. Finished by telling her she was obviously a scam and told her to get lost!

Called me six times in quick succession and I chose to ignore it since I didn’t have a clue who it was. Finally, I crumbled and picked up, but they were just silent on the other end. They called again shortly after, and there was this odd pause before anyone uttered a word. I didn’t stick around; I hung up straight away because it felt like classic scam behaviour.

This lady called me up and actually knew my name, saying she was doing an insurance check or something. I told her straight I don’t have insurance and I’m not into these cold calls. She kept arguing and even threatened to call me every single day. I shut her down in the middle of her spiel and blocked the number. Honestly, I wish there was some way to track these annoying pests and get them dealt with properly. I get about 4 or 5 calls daily and have stopped answering my landline altogether. Now they’re bothering me there as well. It’s really infuriating.

Some bloke who somehow knew my first name rang up saying he was from some Government-backed debt help scheme and boasted they could wipe 70% off my debts, with the Government covering the cost. (Yeah, right!). Then he asked me how much debt I had and started getting really nasty when I said zero. I calmly told him my number’s on the TPS list so he shouldn’t have cold-called me at all, then he called me something rude and hung up. What a total muppet! This number is clearly used by dodgy people with bad intentions. Never ever share your personal info with them.
