Got a really annoying call from someone with a foreign accent. And to the left-leaning idiot who commented below: Calling someone 'Asian' isn’t racist. Chill out. It’s no different than calling someone British, like you or me.

Tried ringing but no response. Still, it's good to see people sharing their stories, confirming this is a scam. Sadly, not shocked that many who've commented seem either quite racist or women who’ve been talked down to by their partners so badly that they gotta pass the phone over when money talks come up. You'd expect by 2016 these kinds of things wouldn't be so normal in our world.

I received a call from some chap who was rambling on about how the government was supposedly returning excess interest charges from our banks. Honestly, the story had more gaps in it than a sieve! I decided to mess with him a bit and threw in some fake info when he prompted me for details. At one point, he even inquired if I had any disabilities. By then, I’d lost all interest in the conversation and just decided to end the call.

I received a call from a gentleman with an Indian accent who identified himself as Mark, claiming to be from something called the Claims Advisory. When I pressed him to clarify the name of his organisation, he suddenly altered it to the Claims Advisory something UK. Upon my request for an address, he quickly listed a street name and added something about Central London, which raised my suspicions that he wasn't even in the UK. Things got a tad awkward when I mentioned I’d be in Central London later today and suggested we could meet to talk about this face-to-face. He kept insisting his name was Mark, and although he had my name and address, he seemed unfazed when I remarked that my name, Jason, is oddly pronounced Colin. He also informed me that "the banks" had been taking me for a ride with concealed charges over the last decade or two, and that there was a possibility of getting compensation from them, as well as the government. -caller: Claims Advisory regarding "hidden bank charges".

Got a call from an Asian bloke asking for me by name. I said, “Who’s this, please?” He answered something like “Minister of Justice.” I asked what the call was about, and he said something about a refund of bank charges. Instantly, I knew it was a scam because no proper bank would ring and ask stuff like that. Told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call. It’s shocking these scammers are still allowed to carry on. Got a call from an Asian fella asking for my husband. Received a call from someone claiming to be sending me a cheque from my bank. I instantly sensed it was dodgy. I've been bombarded with countless calls from this persistent individual claiming to be from India. My last name is Vaughan, yet he insists on addressing me as Mr Vog-ham, despite my repeated attempts to correct him. One would imagine that, given the nature of cold-calling, he might bother to learn how to say my surname properly. I doubt he’d dare make the same blunder if he were ringing up famous cricketer Michael Vaughan. Furthermore, each time he contacts me, he pretends as if it's our first interaction, which is utterly ridiculous. It's high time the authorities took action against these kinds of bothersome calls. I received a phone call from this bloke who seemed to know my name and claimed I was owed between £3000 and £4000 because of bank fees. When I inquired if his company was regulated by the FSA, there was a noticeable hesitation before he affirmed it. He then requested my date of birth, but I politely refused to share that information! I had a rather peculiar phone call from an Indian gentleman purporting to represent the Ministry of Justice. He claimed he needed to verify some details in order to reimburse me for bank charges. When I pointed out that he couldn't possibly know which banks I had dealt with in the past, he started rambling on about how the ministry liaises with all financial institutions and reaches out to those eligible for refunds potentially amounting to £3,000 or £4,000. Then he proceeded to request my date of birth, and I firmly responded that I wouldn't disclose any personal information to a stranger over the phone. Quite rightly, I ended the conversation then and there.

Got a call this morning from 01152967828. The bloke claimed he was from the UK Government Justice Department. He already had my name and address but asked for my birthday to 'verify' me. I told him no way, he should have that info if he’s really from the department. Then he said I had to confirm it or I wouldn’t receive the cheque, and he wouldn’t call back again. I just said “BRILLIANT” and hung up straight away.

Got a call for the second time in a few weeks from this number. Both times the caller claimed to be from the ministry of justice. Told him I’m not sharing any personal info and that I’m waiting for a proper letter with details about my supposed bank refund, so I can check who he really is. Hung up straight after. I receive calls from this number on a daily basis, sometimes I pick up, sometimes I let it ring. One time, when I did answer, the chap identified himself as John Watson but his accent sounded distinctly Indian!! He claimed I was entitled to some kind of compensation for an overpayment on an old pension of mine. When I probed further, he simply replied, “an old one” - how vague is that?! It’s rather unsettling that he had my full name and address; it gives me the shivers knowing a scammer might have my details. Why are these fraudsters not being caught? I received a rather peculiar call from a firm claiming I was on some sort of roster they’d received. Apparently, the Justice Department was offering refunds for bank fees, and they required my date of birth to verify my identity before dispatching a cheque. It sounded alarm bells for me - quite obviously the start of a scam. Every time I asked for clarity, they just passed me up the chain to another manager, who regurgitated the same lines. They eventually quit when I challenged their reasoning!

I asked her three times which bank but then the call suddenly disconnected. These calls really need to be blocked, I thought with all the technology these days that should be doable.

The bloke on the phone said his name was John or Steve and claimed to be from the UK Claim Advisory Service in London, but the number looks like it's from Nottingham. I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be with the Ministry of Justice. This chap knew my name and address, and proceeded to inform me that I was due to receive a cheque for some sort of refund linked to bank fees. To add to the oddity, he asked for my age and which bank I frequented. The name he gave me was James Taylor. A massive scam, if ever I heard one!

Somebody rang me about Mrs Simfield, I told them I didn’t know who that was and then ended the call. Sounds like it was a call centre because I could hear other voices in the background chatting to other people.

I received a voicemail on my answering machine that was simply a jumble of chatter from an office environment. Curiosity got the better of me, so I did a 1471 to trace the call back. However, when I dialled the number, I was informed that it wasn’t a valid number. Quite perplexingly, this isn't the first time I've encountered this oddity this year; it's happened a few times already!

Typical scam stuff. I didn’t catch the guy’s name, but he said he was calling from UK Claims Advisory and claimed he had a cheque for my compensation, ready to send it out. Then he read out my address and asked me to confirm it. I just ended the call straight away because it screamed scam to me. I bet if I’d stayed on, he’d have started fishing for my bank details next. Anyone using this site to check annoying calls will probably be smart enough to spot this kind of trick. Watch out for scams pretending to bring you good news.

A PPI claim company rang me up saying they had a cheque to send. They kept repeating my name, address and postcode to sound trustworthy. Then they asked for my date of birth. I just said it was the same as what’s on all the documents they already have. Suddenly the call just dropped.

Received a call today, the 20th of April in 2016. The caller, a lady, claimed that I had some charges owed to me. However, when I inquired further, she provided me with an address that didn’t sit right with me. I then asked for her company’s name and address, but a man’s voice abruptly took over the call, which immediately prompted me to end the conversation. From the very beginning, it felt like a dodgy scam attempt.

I just called and asked for Mrs (mumble mumble something in a foreign accent). I only caught the "Mrs" bit, so I asked them to say it again. They repeated it, mumbling more this time, still with that foreign tone. When I asked "who?", the bloke had the audacity to reply in perfect English "don't you know your own name?" then slammed the phone down on me!

Got a call from some Government Advisory Service saying I can get back bank charges from the past 20 years. They had my birth date, house number and post code. Today I got a call from this 01152967828 number on my home phone about an hour ago. The guy claimed he was calling from the Ministry of Justice saying I was owed a refund for some bank fees. He even recited my name, address and postcode. Then he asked for my DOB and which bank I use. I gave him false info for both just to be safe. He mentioned that someone would contact my bank in the next hour or two to sort out the details and tell me exactly how much I’d be getting back!!!

Some bloke claiming to be from the Department of Justice called, talking about some refund from banks or something. He wanted my date of birth, so I asked if he was really from the government. He said yes, so I told him the government already has my DOB. Then he said he only needed to confirm it and I didn’t have to give it. I said alright, I won’t give it then, and he just hung up :D Such time-wasting scammers, never share your info with them!!!

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming she worked for the government and that I was due a refund by cheque. I received a rather dubious call from this number, with a gentleman purporting to represent the UK government. He claimed that I was entitled to reclaim approximately £3000 due to certain charges levied against me over the last two decades. When I requested him to clarify his statement, he seemed to lose his temper - perhaps I was disrupting his little scam routine. I didn’t comply with his requests for personal information, and ultimately, he just cut the line. This past week has been quite troublesome; not only is my computer acting up, but I’ve also had three additional calls that I suspect might be from the same individual employing various tactics. This sort of conduct really needs to be dealt with effectively.
