Got a really annoying call from someone with a foreign accent. And to the left-leaning idiot who commented below: Calling someone 'Asian' isn’t racist. Chill out. It’s no different than calling someone British, like you or me.

Tried ringing but no response. Still, it's good to see people sharing their stories, confirming this is a scam. Sadly, not shocked that many who've commented seem either quite racist or women who’ve been talked down to by their partners so badly that they gotta pass the phone over when money talks come up. You'd expect by 2016 these kinds of things wouldn't be so normal in our world.

Got a call from some foreign bloke going on about the government refunding extra interest the bank charged. The tale was full of holes, like swiss cheese. When he asked for info, I fed him fake details. Then he suddenly asked if I was disabled. I’d had enough by that point and just ended the call.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said his name was Mark and that he was from some Claims Advisory group. When I asked him to say again who he was with, he changed it to Claims Advisory something UK. I asked for their address and he gave a random street name and then said Central London, but it was obvious he wasn’t even based in the UK. I mentioned I’d be in Central London later and joked we could meet up to sort it out face to face, which seemed to make him uncomfortable. He kept insisting his name was Mark. He somehow already had my name and address but seemed unfazed when I said my name (Jason) is actually pronounced Colin. He went on about how “the banks” had been charging me hidden fees for “the last 10 to 20 years” and that both the banks and government would reimburse me. - caller: Claims Advisory scam about “hidden bank charges”.

Got a call from an Asian bloke asking for me by name. I said, “Who’s this, please?” He answered something like “Minister of Justice.” I asked what the call was about, and he said something about a refund of bank charges. Instantly, I knew it was a scam because no proper bank would ring and ask stuff like that. Told him I wasn’t interested and ended the call. It’s shocking these scammers are still allowed to carry on. Imagine if it was your elderly gran getting conned into giving away her bank details? Absolutely disgusting!

Got a call from an Asian fella asking for my husband. When I asked who it was, he said he was ringing from the Ministry of Justice, saying my husband was owed some money back for wrongly charged fees. I've gotten loads of calls from this bloke from India. Even though my last name is Vaughan, he keeps saying Mr Vog-ham. I tell him off every single time he rings, but you’d think if someone’s doing cold calls, they’d at least bother to get the name right. Bet he wouldn’t be so careless if he was ringing cricket legend Michael Vaughan. Every time I call him out, he pretends it’s his first time ringing me - what a load of rubbish. Got a call from them too, they knew my name and claimed I was owed something like £3000 to £4000 in bank fees. I asked if their firm was regulated by the FSA, and after a short pause, he said yes. I got a call from a bloke saying he was from the Ministry of Justice, claiming he needed to verify some info so I could get refunds from bank fees. I told him there’s no way he could possibly know which banks I’ve used before. He went on about how the ministry checks every bank and calls folks who might get about 3 to 4 grand back. Then he asked for my birthday, and that’s when I said no way I'm giving personal info to a stranger on the phone and just ended the call.

Got a call this morning from 01152967828. The bloke claimed he was from the UK Government Justice Department. He already had my name and address but asked for my birthday to 'verify' me. I told him no way, he should have that info if he’s really from the department. Then he said I had to confirm it or I wouldn’t receive the cheque, and he wouldn’t call back again. I just said “BRILLIANT” and hung up straight away.

Got a call for the second time in a few weeks from this number. Both times the caller claimed to be from the ministry of justice. Told him I’m not sharing any personal info and that I’m waiting for a proper letter with details about my supposed bank refund, so I can check who he really is. Hung up straight after. I keep getting calls every day, sometimes I pick up, sometimes I don’t. One time I did, and the bloke said his name was John Watson, but he had a really strong Indian accent! He claimed I was owed compensation for a pension mix-up from ages ago. When I asked which pension exactly, he just said, "an old one" with no proper info!! He had both my full name and address, which weirded me out a lot. Feels like some scammer’s got hold of my info. Why do these things keep happening? I received a rather peculiar call from a firm claiming I was on some sort of roster they’d received. Apparently, the Justice Department was offering refunds for bank fees, and they required my date of birth to verify my identity before dispatching a cheque. It sounded alarm bells for me - quite obviously the start of a scam. Every time I asked for clarity, they just passed me up the chain to another manager, who regurgitated the same lines. They eventually quit when I challenged their reasoning!

Got a call from someone speaking with an Indian accent claiming to be from central London. He said I was due a cheque because my bank had missold me some products. When he asked for my bank details, I made up a bank name and random numbers - I wasn’t about to give out real info! I asked him what his organisation stood to gain from all this. He claimed to be working for the Ministry of Justice based in central London. I pointed out that central London numbers start with 0207, yet his phone showed a Nottingham area code. He dodged the question. Then I asked him to give me the address of his London office and he just hung up. Honestly, the Indian accent alone should have been a huge red flag for me. Normally I hang up straight away, but I felt like wasting their time and seeing how they operate. These scammers are just the worst!

Got a call from someone called ‘Smithy’ claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice. Said there was a cheque for me because of some overpaid bank fees. They even gave my full address and postcode. I said cheers, I’ll keep an eye out for it. I had to ask her to repeat herself loads of times. She seemed to know my full name, address and postcode. She claimed I’d been charged too much by my bank and said she’d send me a cheque. I asked her three times which bank but then the call suddenly disconnected. These calls really need to be blocked, I thought with all the technology these days that should be doable.

The bloke on the phone said his name was John or Steve and claimed to be from the UK Claim Advisory Service in London, but the number looks like it's from Nottingham. Some bloke called James Taylor rang me, claimed he worked for the Ministry of Justice. He rattled off my name and address, then said I was about to get a cheque back for some bank fees they supposedly refunded me. He also asked how old I was and which bank I used. Pretty sure it was a total scam.

Absolute nuisance and total scam. I like to mess with them by providing believable yet fake details, just to make them waste their time and resources checking it out. Flip the script (FTS) and strike back at their wallets!

Somebody rang me about Mrs Simfield, I told them I didn’t know who that was and then ended the call. Sounds like it was a call centre because I could hear other voices in the background chatting to other people.

I got a voicemail once, but all I heard was people chatting in an office background. I checked the number with 1471, but when I tried calling back, they said the number wasn’t valid. This isn’t the first time either, it’s happened to me a few times this year.

Typical scam stuff. I didn’t catch the guy’s name, but he said he was calling from UK Claims Advisory and claimed he had a cheque for my compensation, ready to send it out. Then he read out my address and asked me to confirm it. I just ended the call straight away because it screamed scam to me. I bet if I’d stayed on, he’d have started fishing for my bank details next. Anyone using this site to check annoying calls will probably be smart enough to spot this kind of trick. Watch out for scams pretending to bring you good news.

Got a call from some company this evening claiming the UK Govt was handing out refunds. They were pushing hard to get my bank info. Obviously, a total scam. They dangled a cheque in front of me but hung up as soon as I said no to sharing my account details. Be careful out there!

A PPI claim company rang me up saying they had a cheque to send. They kept repeating my name, address and postcode to sound trustworthy. Then they asked for my date of birth. I just said it was the same as what’s on all the documents they already have. Suddenly the call just dropped.

Today, on the 20th of April 2016, I got a call from a lady claiming I was due some charges. She gave me wrong address info when I asked for the company's name and address. Then a bloke took over on the phone, so I just ended the call. Right from the start, I knew it was a scam.

I just called and asked for Mrs (mumble mumble something in a foreign accent). I only caught the "Mrs" bit, so I asked them to say it again. Someone called saying they were Alex Martin from the UK Government. They already had my name and address. I asked for their website and they said they were calling from 223 Kensington, something related to the UK Ministry of Justice. When I told them not to try and fool me, they just hung up!

Got a call from some Government Advisory Service saying I can get back bank charges from the past 20 years. They had my birth date, house number and post code. Today I got a call from this 01152967828 number on my home phone about an hour ago. The guy claimed he was calling from the Ministry of Justice saying I was owed a refund for some bank fees. He even recited my name, address and postcode. Then he asked for my DOB and which bank I use. I gave him false info for both just to be safe. He mentioned that someone would contact my bank in the next hour or two to sort out the details and tell me exactly how much I’d be getting back!!!

Some bloke claiming to be from the Department of Justice called, talking about some refund from banks or something. He wanted my date of birth, so I asked if he was really from the government. He said yes, so I told him the government already has my DOB. Then he said he only needed to confirm it and I didn’t have to give it. I said alright, I won’t give it then, and he just hung up :D Such time-wasting scammers, never share your info with them!!!

Got a call from an Asian bloke with a heavy accent, couldn’t really get what he was saying, especially when he rambled on about some hijacked files on my PC. I let him carry on for a bit and it soon showed he knew nothing about it. Told him he was just talking rubbish and ended the call. Definitely block this number.

This number rang me, a bloke saying he was from the UK government and telling me I was owed about £3000 back from fees they claimed I'd paid over the last twenty years. When I asked him to go over what he said again, he got pretty annoyed - I reckon it messed up his scam spiel. I wouldn’t give him any details and then he just ended the call on me. In just one week, my computer has been acting up and I’ve had three calls which I now think were all the same scammer pretending to be different people. Something really needs to be done about this.
