Got a call from what claimed to be HMRC but no one spoke when I picked up. Later, an automated American voice left a message urging me to ring back to dodge some serious trouble, and ended with "have a nice day!" It immediately seemed dodgy to me, but I can easily see how older folks might fall for it.

This morning I got a phone call from 0114 700 6045. The bloke pretended to be from HMRC, saying they were looking into some tax fraud involving me. He even threatened legal action - total scam! If anyone else gets a call like this, make sure you report it to HMRC straight away.

The number 01147006045 called me and left a really scary voicemail saying I had to get in touch with them or my lawyer right away, or else they’d take legal action against me. I ended up blocking the caller and getting rid of the message, but I can imagine how this sort of thing would genuinely freak out elderly folks who might not know it’s a scam. Absolute cowards - they deserve to be locked up for this!!!
