2 yearsMy partner picked up the phone, thinking it might be something important since he’s recently begun working from home. The caller claimed there was a problem with our internet security and asked him to turn on his laptop. As he was about to follow their instructions, I asked who was calling. He said BT, but I told him our internet provider isn’t BT and told him to hang up immediately. They never asked any security questions to prove their identity. I decided to check the number on this site, and sure enough, it’s a scam.BT2 yearsSome bloke called saying he was from BT and asked if I’d reported any internet problems. I said no, then he told me checking the issue wouldn’t cost me anything but I needed to log in and provide my info. I told him I didn’t trust that he was actually from BT and ended the call. He rang me a couple more times after that, sounding a bit lost and then getting a bit annoyed.BT2 yearsGot a call from someone pretending to be from BT, saying they spotted some dodgy stuff on my PC. They wanted me to sign into my laptop for them! I played along since I used to work as an Openreach engineer not long ago. She was clueless when I fired back with proper ID questions. She said her name was Anna Wanton. When I challenged her, she passed me to her 'supervisor' who couldn't answer either and just dropped the call.
