Spoke to a guy with a proper English accent (bit of a surprise tho) saying he was from the Energy Saving Centre. When I asked what he wanted, he just went quiet but didn't hang up. After seeing all the other replies, I've decided to block the number - no way I'm switching my boiler.

Got a recorded voice saying it's from National Savings Institute, said they'd ring back. We're ex-directory, so if they try, I'll make it difficult for them. I first thought it was Sheffield since our numbers start with 0114, but this was neither 01142 nor 01143, which are real Sheffield codes, so I probably should have guessed straight away. Was just a bit distracted at the time though.

I reckon this number is linked to Sheffield, but I've got my doubts. They rang me up, insisting they were from a National Savings hotline or some such nonsense. I only picked up as I presumed it was a mate calling.

She somehow had my name, knew our boiler is more than seven years old and even asked what we usually pay for gas each month. How on earth do they find out stuff like that? I've just blocked the number now.

The person calling already had my name and address and claimed my boiler was over seven years old, saying it wasn’t very energy efficient and might not be reliable anymore. They mentioned there were grants to replace it with an ‘A’ rated efficient boiler, but these were only available for a short time. They said someone from the Energy Saving Centre would contact me to set up an appointment. I told them I wasn’t interested, but they kept pushing so I ended up hanging up.
