5 monthsThis number rang me twice but I usually don’t answer calls from strangers. Then I got an email from Connect Fibre, who a while back were knocking on doors around here trying to get folks to change their broadband since they’d recently set up service nearby. Looks like Voxbone SA might be taking care of their customer service stuff. So if they ask you to verify your address, it’s probably linked to a rep who visited your area offering the switch. Seems legit to me, not a scam or anything dodgy.Connect FibreVoxbone SA2 yearsI got a call from a bloke who knew my first name, which threw me a bit, so I just ended the call straight away. After that, he ringed me back on my mobile about my internet deal or something.2 yearsI ignored the call cos the number looked unfamiliar.2 yearsHad a woman ring me up with a South African accent, trying to sell me cheaper broadband. She claimed to be with the Consumer Credit Association (which seemed a bit dodgy). She already had my full address and postcode and asked me to verify it, but I refused. As soon as I said no, she hung up. The caller ID showed a Sheffield, England number, but I reckon they were actually calling from South Africa using VoIP tech. This system lets them make calls over the internet so it looks like a local number, but it’s just a trick. Watch out, it’s definitely a scam.
