I received a rather strange phone call from someone claiming to be following up on my supposed inquiry into a pre-paid funeral plan from last year, specifically in 2020. The chap on the line, who introduced himself as Joseph, was adamant that I had expressed interest in such a plan, despite my protests to the contrary. In fact, he became quite pushy and aggressive when I maintained that it simply wasn’t the case. When I confidently asserted that my memory was quite sharp and that I had never looked into any plan, he dismissed my claims, saying he wasn't doubting my recollection but insisted that under data protection laws, I must have shown some sort of interest. After this rather peculiar exchange, the line went dead. It’s all rather exasperating, if I'm honest!

Like loads of others have said here, I got a call from someone pretending to be "Amazon Prime" saying my membership was about to renew. When I mentioned I worked at the Information Commissioner's Office and asked for their name, they just ended the call right away... quite suspicious if you ask me.
