Got a call from a bloke with a weird accent about an accident I supposedly had. Told him I hadn’t been in one and then he asked if anyone else at home had. I said no and he just ended the call. I’m with TIPS but when I tried to complain, they said they’d forward my details to the company I’m complaining about. No way I’m doing that, so what’s the point of them then?

A man with an Indian accent rang me up at 3:41pm, mentioning something about a traffic crash. I have had a traffic accident before (a cyclist hit me and I had to stay in the emergency ward for 24 hours for checks) early in 2016. When I asked which company or group he was calling from, he didn’t give an answer, so I just said “wrong number” and he ended the call.

About five minutes ago I got a call from some bloke named Max, saying he was ringing about a crash I’d supposedly been in. He first spoke to my mum, as she answered, saying it was about her accident. Then she handed me the phone and suddenly it was about me instead! I told him I hadn’t been in any accident and told him to take my number off (it’s unlisted anyway) or I’d be involving the police. Then he just hung up! Proper annoying. Watch out, folks!

Got a call from some bloke sayin I was in an accident I didn’t even have. I asked him what car it was, who was driving, where and when it supposedly happened. Got a call just after midday, supposedly 'from London'. They said they were doing a 'UK Consumer Survey' and wanted to ask me some questions since they targeted my postcode. They knew my last name but not my first. I told them I’m on the TPS and warned I'd report them if they bother me again.

Not sure who was trying to ring me since I didn’t pick up, but I rarely get random sales calls, so I was a bit intrigued. After looking it up here, turns out it was one of those cold call numbers. There was this really pushy bloke on the phone wanting my address to send paperwork to sign for some payout from an accident. I told him I wasn't due any money from that, and he just replied, oh, you must be loaded then. I ended the call but it was quite off-putting, wouldn’t want them ringing someone who’s more vulnerable. Like others have mentioned, you can’t ring them back as the number isn’t in service.

1st Dec 2016. My phone buzzed twice but when I picked up, no one said a word. The day before, I got two calls (one on my mobile) about a car crash, so probs the same outfit. They said they have some insurance database but didn’t have any info on me. I kept quiet about not being in any accident. Felt like they were just trying their luck. When I told them they were doing something illegal, they hung up.

I was feeling a bit cheeky so I played dumb and kept saying things like "you had an accident? maybe you should call the accident helpline!" Then he tried to sound official, saying "this is an official call," and I just replied, "oh, you're off fishing then, how lovely!" Funny enough, he just hung up on me. I'm definitely reporting them since I'm on the TPS and my number is unlisted!

Got a call from 01143190946 claiming there was some money owed to us due to a car accident. They asked for our car registration and other details, saying they were contacting us for Aviva, the other driver's insurance. I told them if they already have the info, they should have my reg number. Then I asked for everything in writing before I'd respond. Weirdly, they just ended the call straight away.

Sounds like one of those dodgy overseas call centres to me, so definitely not trusting that number.

just got a ring from this number (or at least that’s what 1471 showed), saying they were from the national accident helpline, and that my number was given to them because ive had some accident in the past 3 years. when i said no, he asked me to explain. i told him again, "no, you dont have my number for that at all", and he just hung up straight away. definitely sounds like an overseas call centre, so i wouldnt trust this number one bit.
