Earlier today, I received a call from a lady using this number who said she was representing the Daily Mail, supposedly wanting to set me up with a digital subscription for a mere £5 for a three-month period. She seemed rather pushy about getting me to agree to a direct debit right then and there over the phone. This raised a lot of red flags for me, as it struck me as odd - why not just direct me to their website or ask for an email address instead? I can't shake the feeling that this is a dodgy operation!

i got a call from someone claiming to be with the daily mail trying to sell me a subscription on the internet. i told them i wasn’t interested and they didn’t try to convince me anymore. but once i ended the call, i started thinking about how they even got hold of my landline number since i never give it out or enter it anywhere online.

I dont usually pick up calls from numbers I dont know. Most of the time its just annoying calls. If its important, the person will leave a voicemail, right? Otherwise, its probably someone trying to sell me stuff or those dodgy legal firms. Anyway, i've blocked the number now.

While it seemed quite legitimate at the time, I decided to play it safe and turn down her proposal. After doing a bit of digging, I stumbled across some accounts labelling her as a scammer, so it seems I made the wisest decision after all!

got a call today from a number i didnt recognise. after looking at the comments here, sounds like its someone from the daily mail. i did sign up for a month’s trial at a quid to check it out. makes sense now. not really interested in getting hassled or any sales calls tho, so i’m just gonna block the number and stop the subscription.
