They have rung me loads of times, but I never pick up, just let it go to voicemail and they never leave a single message. I’m meant to be on the TPS, plus my number’s unlisted and I’m off the electoral register, so how on earth are they getting hold of my number?

Like with a lot of other times, women have been ringing to ask if you want to do some kind of survey nearby.

I got a call from a woman, she gave a name but I didn’t catch it properly, saying we’d had loft insulation installed sometime in the last forty years (pretty likely). She told me there was an issue with the insulation and offered a free survey. When I asked where she got her info from and how the whole thing worked, she dodged the questions a bit. I politely declined the inspection. I figured it was just a way to upsell an expensive job. Feels like a bit of a scam to me. It’s a bit concerning because the lady sounded quite convincing, so I imagine some people might fall for it.

Some woman called saying she was from an energy company and mentioned there might be issues with the loft insulation that was put in a couple of years back. She asked if I recalled having it done, I told her I didn’t. Then she went on about how it must’ve been done by the people who owned the house before me, but I’ve lived here for like 30 years! When she asked if she could send someone over to check it out, I just said no thanks and ended the call.

Got a call from them twise now, yesterday and then again just today. The lady sounded proper London, saying she was my local home energy advisor. I ended up hanging up straight away.

Got a call from a lady named Maria claiming she was with the Local Energy Efficiency Board. She was asking about loft insulation supposedly installed as part of the Green Scheme back in 2012 to 2014. I told her I never had any insulation put in through that scheme. She just said ‘oh sorry to disturb you’ and ended the call pretty quick.

This bloke called saying he was doing checks on loft insulation, supposedly ringing folks aged 45 to 85. He started going on about some fungus and mould problems under the insulation and between the floorboards, saying a surveyor would come round soon to take a look. Yeah right, sounds like a total scam to me!

I got a call from a lady who asked if I was Mrs xxx. I reckon that’s the person who had this number before me, way back when BT first gave it to me about six years ago. We used to get loads of calls for them. Seems like their phone directory is really behind the times.

The caller didn’t provide any identification and seemed to be relying on some rather outdated details. When my husband picked up the phone, they inquired if he was Mr (my maiden name). Once he informed them that nobody by that name resided here, they abruptly hung up. Very peculiar!

There was a bit of a pause before the caller asked if I was Mrs X. I told them no, I’m actually Mr X. As soon as I said that, the caller just ended the call straight away. Didn’t even wait for me to ask who they wanted or what they needed. Bit rude, really.
