So this bloke calls me up sayin, "Alex, you’re the owner of the property, right?" I was like, “How do you figure that?” He then launches into his whole sales pitch about solar panels. I just put the phone down beside me and carried on with what I was doing. After a bit, I reckon he twigged he was just jabbering to thin air and hung up, ‘cause I could hear the ringing from his end. Still, I managed to eat up about five minutes of his scam attempt before blacklisting his number!

Got a missed call from 01142991726 the other day. I love how the BT phone Z handles this kinda thing (though other brands do it too). If the number isn’t saved or recognised, the phone asks the caller to say who they are, or it just hangs up. Proper handy for screening out random calls.

I've seen loads of these scams and fake calls too. It's clear to me and others from the comments that something's fishy. Surely Ofcom needs to step in and team up with the fraud squad to track these scammers down and catch them for good.

It’s rather odd, as his voice seems just like that of John from the Driveway Centre and Chris from the Window Centre. I never engage and simply hang up; clearly, it's some sort of scam.
