I picked up the phone and nothing was said for a bit, then someone asked me to verify my name. When I asked who it was, I just ended the call. These sort of calls are really annoying to me, and sometimes I end up shouting into the phone just to mess with whoever’s on the other end.

Got a call from some marketing firm, probably just trying to gather info, asking for a Mr John James - which honestly sounds like a made-up name. I told them no one by that name lives here, but she just kept pushing. Mentioned I’m on the TPS and asked her to take me off their list. She claimed the number came from some public directory, which is odd since I’ve been ex-directory for over a decade. Blocked 01142867701 now, though I’m guessing they’ll come back with a different dodgy number.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from somewhere like Home Living. She said she just wanted to ask me three quick questions. I told her straight away I wasn’t interested. Then she said she wasn’t trying to sell anything, but I told her it didn’t matter, I still wanted no part of it and asked her to take my number off their list. She started yelling at me, so I just hung up. I’m on the TPS list, so if they call back I’ll definitely report them.

I stopped answering these calls ages ago, they just keep phoning like mad, sometimes up to five calls daily. They start off with a few questions and claim they’re not trying to sell but really just want your info. My trick now is just staying quiet or telling them to wait a moment and then hang up. Honestly, it pays off to annoy them back a bit.

Got a call today from April 2108 asking for my ex. Funny thing is, I got this phone way back in 2001 just so she and I could chat for free until 2005. After that, I hung on to it as a spare. Neither of us ever shared her name with that number, so I rang up Tmobile and Tesco complaints who both insisted they never handed over her details for marketing. But guess what? Someone obviously did!

Some woman began yelling into my voicemail, so I just blocked the number straight away.

Someone called wanting to speak to my daughter, but she was at work, so I said so. Then the guy tried to say I could answer some questions about our house stuff. I just put the phone down. Next day, they rang again saying our insurance had expired or something. Sounds like a scam to me, asking for info about our appliances and then hitting us with fake insurance nonsense.
