So, some bloke rang me up pretending to work for BT’s tech team, telling me my IP was hacked across loads of countries. Then he warned my internet would be shut down in a day or two. He told me to hit "1" to chat with an engineer - yeah, right! Totally dodgy and clearly a scam.

sounds like one of those dodgy ip address scams to me.

Got calls from this number three times in less than five minutes on my landline. They never left a message. Tried ringing them back a couple of times but just got a busy tone every time.
