Honestly, what I and pretty much everyone else who got this fake call did was just block the number, ignore it completely and also report it. That’s the best way to handle it.

Got a robotic call claiming to be from HMRC, and it was really pushy and scary sounding. I just blocked the number straight away and made sure to report it.

Just like many others, I got a call from someone claiming to be Sarah Waters, solicitor or something along those lines. I’ve also been getting texts that look the same, so I’ve reported it to the HMRC phishing hotline. They encourage everyone to report these calls so they can look into them properly. If you get one from this number, do the same. It’s important we all help stop this. I was driving with handsfree when I got the call, so I couldn’t note down the department or callback number. Has anyone else got those details? It’d be good for reporting to HMRC.

Just called them up for a bit of fun after getting that voicemail. When they asked who I was, I gave them a fake name and then they just ended the call. Quite silly really.

Just had the exact same thing happen to me a bit ago. They say I’ve got two hours before they come to get me (©). They even tried to hold onto my passport, but I only just got back from a holiday in Spain today! It’s absolutely ridiculous.

I got a missed call from 01143606421 and when I checked, there was a voicemail saying it was HMRC. They warned me to ring back, but I’m not so sure about it. Seems a bit dodgy to me.

Got a message from someone named Sarah Wilson at HMRC, saying me or my lawyer needs to ring straight away about some urgent matter. Honestly, it was such a rubbish scam, totally obvious it was fake.

This number kept ringing me up saying I had to call back or face serious legal trouble. They mentioned something about my solicitor, which is odd because I don’t have one at all. Definitely a scam. If it was actually HMRC calling, they’d come see you in person and check your ID properly. Best just block these calls, it’s crazy that no laws stop this since our phone numbers and info should be private stuff.
