Got a call a moment ago from a Sheffield number I didn’t know. I answered but didn’t say a word, just waited and only silence from their side. Then put it on speaker and left it on my desk. It’s been about 20 minutes with no sound at all. Since they’re the ones footing the bill and I’m not waiting on anything urgent, I’m happy to let the call run and see if they want to waste some credit.

Just make up a fake name and an address that dont exist and keep them on the line as long as you can. GiffGaff gives you a free minute for every minute spent on calls, so its worth it. Ive got two phones, one on EE which is my real number and I never use it for any online stuff. The other is an old phone with a GiffGaff SIM that I use just for online things. I pretend to be interested and after like 10 minutes I say “Thanks a lot” and hang up.

About a month back, I received a call from an unfamiliar number claiming to be conducting a "survey." One of the questions was what kind of car I own and its age (I gave them the make but didn’t mention the year). Since then, I’ve gotten a few more calls from the same number while I was at work, but only picked up today. It turned out to be about my Citroen’s expired warranty and offering me options to purchase an extended warranty. I just said, "No thanks."

I’ve noticed that Car Protect appears to tap into the AA vehicle warranty database, which is noteworthy considering it operates separately from AA membership itself. Ever since I acquired my VW, which included a complimentary year of AA warranty, they seem to ring me up every month without fail. Since I’m not one to entertain unsolicited calls, I swiftly blocked their number and decided to look up what the fuss could be about. From what I’ve seen in various reviews, it looks like a bit of a money pit with no real value. That number is well and truly blocked now.

I just received a call from a company named Car Protect, trying to sell me an extended warranty for a Ford. The thing is, they had no clue about what model I owned or how long I'd had it. It’s quite likely that Car Protect has ended up with a mishmash of erroneous personal information. Honestly, I can't fathom why anyone would consider purchasing a warranty from a cold call like that.

Normally I let the call go to voicemail but if I pick up I hang on for the caller to say something first, if I dont recognize the number I just drop the call. Real calls usually come back with a message but most never bother.

A couple days ago, I got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, they said it was a short survey. They asked me some questions about my car. Then today, this same number rang me and actually used my name and the make of my car, saying my warranty was about to run out and that I needed to renew it. I’d say be careful with those surveys, they seem to lead to these annoying spam calls.

Received a rather odd phone call today inquiring about whether I still possessed any of my vintage cars. I've received a handful of calls from this number, and today I decided to pick up. It turned out to be a sales pitch concerning my car warranty. I informed the caller that I had no interest in their offer, but then she went on to ask if I was ready to fork out cash for my car repairs. That was my cue to hang up! I've now blocked this number, as well as all the other nuisance callers.
