Without a doubt, this is a scam. I got in touch with Halifax to check if they had reached out to me, and they said no. Being a bit old fashioned, I didn't share any details. Instead, I called the number on a spare phone and, surprisingly, a woman answered speaking with an Indian accent, but based in Sheffield or something like that. Don't be tricked by it - it’s a proper con. Those who target honest folks trying to earn a living and try to steal money from them deserve a good thrashing or whatever they need. Stay safe and don’t fall for it.

Sounds like it’s probably Halifax chasing you up about overdue payments. They don’t stop, calling every day, leaving loads of messages on my phone with loads of background noise, often at ridiculous hours! (They also use the number 08000 092 0762). It’s a bit dodgy when someone with a foreign accent from an overseas call centre rings up wanting to discuss your banking details. I wasn’t comfortable giving out any info the first time they called, so I just hung up and blocked them. Still, they keep phoning my landline, and it’s really getting on my nerves!

Got a call from this number, a very lovely lady named Miss Tamara Helicopter-Smith. She invited me to share some old cheddar chunks down at the Halifax branch on Walthamstow High Street, maybe with a few olives and a pint of cider on the side. Sadly, I had to turn it down coz I’m already tied up meeting ex Spurs player Vinny Samways, but honestly, it was a nice surprise to get the call. She had this boldness, like a proper onion aroma, and I reckon she’d be perfect for a study on folks who rock cardigans and worn-out wellies (probably with a dollop of chutney).

This is the Halifax dept that contacts you if you’re behind on payments or your account is overdrawn. They normally ask for your date of birth first so they can confirm who they’re speaking with before discussing anything about your account. They never ask for your account numbers or PIN though. If it had been some kind of scam, they would've prob asked for those details.

I rang a number starting with 0114 and saw these reviews - funny enough, I got the same thing yesterday, a text claiming to be Halifax but the person wouldn’t say which department they were from unless I gave my bank details. I phoned Halifax direct and they said it wasn’t them. Apparently, they only work with companies outside the UK for debt collection, and those folks only contact you if a payment plan is nearly over - everything else they handle by letter. That 0800 092 0762 number seems to be linked to the same scam.

I reckon some folks are using viruses to grab info from your phone, especially stuff connected to Payforit, premium text codes, and companies like Tekka UK Ltd, gamesaine, gameking and such. They probably target banking apps too, trying to get your details to nick your money. Also, if any of you owe banks and keep dodging payments, these calls might be from debt collectors linked to that. Either way, best to just BLOCK them all for our own safety :-)

Got a call from a guy who sounded Indian claiming to be from Halifax bank asking for my details. Total SCAM!!! I contacted Halifax myself and they said their fraud team is handling it now.

Yeah, I got a voicemail supposedly from HSBC about my personal online banking. Thing is, I dont have an account with them at all. Seems like just another scam to me.

I keep getting calls from this number and when I tried ringing back once, it just hung up on me. Feels like it’s some kind of scam or something, but I’m not really sure. Seems a bit pointless anyway.

After warning a scammer that I would report them, I began receiving frequent calls from a couple of different numbers that always ended with hanging up after a few rings. I was relieved they seemed to be slowing down until this number called me! I didn’t pick up, but it’s clear my phone is on some sort of list now. If a number seems unfamiliar (assuming you can even see it), don’t answer. I’ve switched to giving out my mobile more often since it’s simpler to block unwanted calls there. I heard BT might launch something to tackle landline spam later this year, but I can’t wait that long.
