I got a call from this Asian guy, number 01442218647, on June 11th, 2029 in the afternoon. He was trying to convince me to pay for stopping spam calls. I called back but no one answered.

Loads of these annoying calls seem to come from Mumbai, where fraudsters try all sorts of tricks to get your bank card info or hack into your computer. And just to clear up a misunderstanding, BT aren’t selling people's numbers - these scammers just clone them. Also, the TPS do pretty much nothing to stop some random muppet from ringing you up from their bedroom.

The bloke said his name was Jim, but his strong South Asian accent gave it away. I was pretty doubtful from the start and didn't give much away, so he ended the call abruptly. Such a annoying and unsolicited ring, definitely seemed like some kind of scam to me.

I had a call from a guy who sounded Asian and somehow already knew some of my info. He kept pushing me to give the expiry date on my card, which I never did. I just told him to jog on. It was pretty creepy, to be honest!

Got a call from a guy with an asian accent, said he was from TPS and kept asking for my debit card expiry date. I told him no, but he just kept pushing, saying it was needed for TPS or something. Got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be from some "Telephone Preference Management" service. He asked me to confirm the expiry date on my Visa card to verify me, which I wasn’t having. I stalled him on the phone for about 25 mins, the bloke was really persistent. Claimed it’d be a one-time fee of £21.99 to stop all nuisance calls forever. Funny thing is, he never checked any of my BT details even though he said he had them. I told him I wasn’t interested and just hung up. Have blocked the number now so no more bother!

I got a call from someone with an Asian accent pretending to be from the TPS, asking if I was still getting those annoying calls and saying they could block them. If only the TPS actually worked like that, but sadly they don’t - like many others have mentioned, they’re pretty useless. They ask for info that’s really tough to provide before they just hang up, or it’s all just made up nonsense. Honestly, something needs to be done about these scammers who cause so much stress and bother, especially to those who are more vulnerable.

Had the exact same thing, a guy called "Dave" going on about me being some important customer or whatever. I played along till he hit the bit about my card info. Then he asks for this "six digit telephone preference ID" from the bottom left of my visa debit card 🤨. Turns out it was just my sort code! Apparently, the bank's already given it the green light. Got a call from a man with a foreign accent who confirmed my name and address. He claimed to be from a TPS-type group and mentioned I pay my phone bill by direct debit, which is accurate. Then he asked for the sort code on my bank debit card. After that, he said he could connect me to his supervisor to stop nuisance calls. I ended the call, but he rang back, so I told him the chat was over and hung up. They tried calling again, but I just didn’t pick up.

On the 22nd of August 2017, I got a call from a woman who said her name was 'Miss Margaret'. This was roughly an hour after I had already been contacted by someone with the same name, but from a different number, 0203 6305457. If you want, check my note about that 0203 number today. She said sorry, explaining, "my number showed up again by accident!" Then just about ten minutes after, the same number buzzed again but no one spoke when I picked up.
