this number keeps calling me non stop, really need to block it asap

It appears that this number operates in one of two primary ways: first, they might ring you up, seemingly aware of your identity, suggesting they’ve obtained your information from an organisation you’ve previously interacted with; second, you could receive a call that barely lasts a ring or two at most, leading to a missed call. In the past, I used to ring these numbers back in hopes of unearthing their identity and requesting the removal of my information. However, I found it rather futile. They utilise VoIP technology, making it impossible to trace their actual location, and even if they do remove your details-which is questionable-they likely manage several databases simultaneously. Although we’ve signed up for the Telephone Preference Service, that turns out to be ineffective; their complaint process is maddeningly lengthy, requiring extensive paperwork. We’ve also registered as data controllers with the Information Commissioner’s Office, yet invoking their complaint mechanisms is a cumbersome task too. Moreover, I can’t shake the feeling that action is only taken if there’s an avalanche of complaints rather than just our individual concerns. With that in mind, the best course of action is to simply disregard and block these calls. It’s a nuisance and thoroughly irritating, but all the hassle isn’t worth our time. As society leans further into this digital era and a cashless existence, entwined with social media exposing our lives, we must brace ourselves for such intrusions and potential scams. Always save the numbers of contacts you recognise, enabling your incoming calls to display identifiable names; if you’re uncertain about a number or where it’s supposedly from, just ignore it and hit block. If they’re authentic, they’ll find alternative means to get in touch. - caller: 0113 868 1309

Got a call from what I think was an automated spam system. Sounded like one of those robocalls trying to sell me something or push a competition. Just one of those annoying spam calls you get now and then.

I didn’t pick up because I didn’t recognise the number; it’s likely just some spammy call.

Received a rather suspicious text claiming I’d won a grand in a lottery. Seemed to be an automated message, but definitely smells dodgy.
