Today alone I’ve had calls from 4 different numbers all trying to sell loft or energy insulation stuff. I never pick up, but when I looked up the numbers, turns out it’s all the same scam. Have a look at the earlier posts on this thread, about 14 of them down, and you might get why we keep getting these scam calls. Some posts explain how to report these scams straight to the cyber crime unit's database, why just blocking the number doesn't help, and other useful tips. The scammers really want to keep this info hidden and might try to hide it. Thing is, most people just don’t bother taking action, so the scammers just laugh it off and make their money, knowing their calls probably won’t get reported. Once a scam works, they quickly switch to a new number but the same trick.

I got a call from a woman asking about my loft insulation. I listened for a bit, then quickly ended the call after about ten seconds.

Got a call from a woman with a strong Cockney accent. She launched into this rambling spiel, acting like we'd already been chatting for ages. Said she was an energy advisor covering my postcode or something. Was on the phone nonstop for like two minutes and I just hung up on her.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the energy providers, asking about a free loft check I supposedly had done. She kept going on about how my loft insulation was apparently a problem according to some government rule, but she had no idea what type I actually have up there! Refused to tell me her company or even her name, which always makes me suspicious. To me, this just screamed energy scam from the start.

Just like what others have mentioned here, I got a call from a woman claiming to be an energy advisor for my region. She started asking if I had fibreglass insulation in my loft. I didn't bother continuing and just ended the call. Whether it’s a scam or legit, I honestly don’t care - I just wish these calls would stop altogether. If I ever need any loft insulation, I’ll look into it myself. For now, I’ve blocked the number.

Here’s some info on how to easily report scam texts, calls, emails, and fraud attempts through a system set up by the police (NFIB). I only found out about it after raising the insane number of scam calls I was getting with my MP. It seems scammers are keen to keep this quiet. If you don’t flag these scams, don’t count on them stopping any time soon. While reporting to 7726, your phone network, Ofcom, or the company being impersonated might help somewhat, these reports sometimes don’t make it through to the police for a criminal probe.
