To be honest, I hadn’t the faintest clue what to expect should I agree to let them send someone over. Given my background in financial services, I’m quite clued up on GDPR regulations and the norms around unsolicited calls. I pressed her for the name of the company she represents, but all she could manage was this endless repetition about fibres in insulation being an irritant. The true irritant, however, seems to be this incessant calling company. If only I could uncover their name, I’d waste no time in reporting them to the Information Commissioner and do my utmost to see them shut down for good.

I’ve just had a rather perplexing call from some company insisting that I must have my loft insulation evaluated. They hinted that if I hadn’t had a survey done, it was imperative. Apparently, they’re trying to freak people out about fibre glass insulation being declared an irritant by the British Lung Association-what's next, a British Left Leg Association? They offered me a “complimentary” inspection, but it all feels very dodgy to me. As a chartered surveyor (MRICS), I can tell you this is nothing but nonsense. Loft inspections do not need to happen every year and the irritation from fibre glass has always been known to be mild. These phone calls are nothing more than scams from unscrupulous operators.

I got a call from a lady speaking with a London accent saying that my loft’s insulation was apparently ‘caustic’ and asked if I wanted them to check it out. Luckily, I’ve got a call screening setup, so she won’t be reaching me unless I decide to waste some time messing with her.
