Received a phone call for my dear elderly mother, claiming they could help her save on her boiler repairs. When they realised I wasn’t the one they needed to speak to, they insisted on talking to me instead. Things took a nasty turn when the caller became quite rude and even called my mum a foolish woman before abruptly hanging up. I then rang the company directly and had a conversation with someone who claimed to be a supervisor, although I had my doubts. This so-called supervisor assured me he’d investigate the incident but insisted they didn’t require any personal information-rather telling of their lack of sincerity in addressing the issue. Just a heads up about this phone number; it's one to steer clear of.

It really feels like BT is just as bad as the scammers themselves. They make a profit by leasing out phone lines and fake numbers to fraudsters, which is really dodgy. The National Crime Agency seems to be focusing only on the scammers, while the telecom companies who help them out aren’t being held to account at all. Makes me wonder who’s really to blame here.

Got a call from a guy with quite a strong Indian accent, who kept asking for Mrs (my first name). He kept rambling on and on. I told him I couldn’t catch what he was saying properly and mentioned I’m on the TPS list if it was some marketing thing. Then he just hung up.

05/09/23 - 4.07pm - Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent asking for my mum by her first name. Thing is, she sadly died back in 2021. He was rambling about some kind of imaging scan and claimed he worked for a private health company. I told him straight away she was no longer with us, and he sounded quite sorry. Still, he kept pushing to talk to her. Feels fishy like a dodgy medical scam to me - watch out and don’t fall for it.
