someone named chris johnson rang me claiming he worked for uk pension review and could check all my pension pots, even find ones i didn't know about. i told him i needed to get in touch with my pension providers myself first, which i’ve now done, but he kept pushing that their service was completely free for me anyway.

Got a call from someone saying they were with the UK pensions review team. As soon as i mentioned i already knew everything about my pension, they just hung up. Cheers, but no thanks!

It's a total con - they call saying you owe money to HMRC and claim they'll be sending someone round to pick it up! Proper scammers trying to trick you.
