I tend to steer clear of returning calls from numbers that look dodgy, especially those with strange codes, as they can turn into expensive traps. You could end up racking up charges of £42 just for dialling back! They might even hit you with fees just for picking up the phone! I reached out to Sky, my landline provider, when I got calls that claimed to be from them, requesting my password right after I got online. They mentioned that a different number I received calls from seemed to be connected to Sky. However, these scam artists are clever enough to spoof genuine numbers.
