I just had a rather odd phone call from someone claiming to be with Kirklees Council, insisting they wanted to set up a meeting for cavity wall insulation. When I probed a bit and asked which department they belonged to, all I got was a vague repetition of 'Kirklees'. Puzzled, I requested the council's contact number for verification, and lo and behold, the line went dead - they hung up on me! Interestingly, my parents received a similar call but didn’t think to question the caller’s legitimacy. They ended up being asked if they were on any benefits. Quite the dodgy affair, if you ask me!
