To everyone saying “I’m nowhere near Leeds, this must be fake” or “Wouldn’t it be his mobile?” - Deliveroo’s call centre is actually in Leeds. So if customer service rings you, it'll show up as a Leeds number. Also, for safety reasons, when a rider contacts you, it won't be from their private phone. Sort of like when a restaurant calls you, they don’t have your actual number either. What happens is we call Deliveroo, enter a code tied to the order, and then they connect us directly to the customer.

The call went straight to voicemail but no message was left. I did place an order for pizza through Pizzahut, though I think it was delivered by Deliveroo since most folks commenting say the call was from them? If the delivery driver needed to confirm my address, their own mobile would show up on my phone, so it’s strange that someone with a Leeds number rang me. Ordered the pizza from Pizzahut directly but guessing Deliveroo handled the delivery, which feels a bit odd. Not sure why I’m getting a call from Leeds, really.

I've come across this chap who occasionally seems to be working with Deliveroo in various regions across the UK. It's a mobile number, not one linked to Leeds in West Yorkshire. Strangely enough, he struggles to converse in English. Even when you tell him you're not following, he keeps babbling away in what sounds like his native tongue. I’ve actually met him in person, and apart from a few scattered words, his English is minimal, even face-to-face. What’s more perplexing is that he insists on having the Deliveroo order number before he hands over the delivery. As per their guidelines, couriers are meant to deliver the items first and then request the order number from you, the customer.

I didn’t answer since it was 2:30 in the morning and I’d just been woken up! Definitely didn’t order any Deliveroo like some folks say here, actually I’ve never even used their service. The person calling kept ringing over and over, so I had to block the number eventually.

Was waiting for my Deliveroo order and then this number rings me up. The bloke on the phone had a thick accent and I couldn't quite catch what he was on about. A few seconds later, I spotted my actual Deliveroo rider turning the corner, so I suppose the call was just to let me know to check outside.

Nah. To the person who said just ignore the comments because it’s only Deliveroo, yeah it’s Deliveroo, I get that part. But don’t tell people to ignore the scam warnings. Loads of these calls now show up as proper company numbers (like they somehow cracked it). I’ve had calls loads of times from what look like legit companies, but they’re scammers pretending to be them. So, businesses get hit with this too. So just stop.
