Naively, I confirmed it, as he insisted he was calling from Nationwide. However, the call abruptly ended, and despite my attempts to reconnect by calling nine times, I was unsuccessful. It's worth mentioning that all the information I confirmed is readily available in the phone book, making me wonder if this whole interaction was pointless in the first place.

Got a text at 6am this morning claiming it was from HSBC saying my account’s been frozen, with a link to a website. My McAfee scanner flagged the link as “Unsafe - Possible Phishing Site”. I don’t even have an HSBC account! They rang me five times throughout the morning. When I picked up, the caller said they were from HSBC about my account suspension. I asked “Which account?” and they just hung up. Seems pretty clear the calls and the text are connected. Tried calling the number back to see who it was, but it doesn’t take incoming calls.
