Got a call about selling my house. Watch out, it seemed dodgy!

I received five calls on my phone within just a brief hour and a half, which was rather peculiar! Initially, the first few were silent - no chatter at all, just dead air before they disconnected. However, the last couple involved different voices, both probing for my personal information. Naturally, I inquired who they were and how they obtained my number. But as soon as I began to press them with questions, they abruptly ended the call! I did manage to request that they erase my details from their database. Fingers crossed they took my plea seriously!

I ignored the call ‘cause lately I’ve been getting tons of calls from loads of different numbers all over the place. So I finally called this one back, and it was some automated voice saying “thanks for calling Project Solar.” When I called the other numbers that kept hassling me, they all had the same automated message. I’ve tried blocking them but they keep switching numbers - I think I’m just gonna have to change my number now.

Got a call this afternoon about my life insurance with Aviva. When I asked if he really worked for Aviva, he just said he was “calling for a laugh, Madam!” Pretty clear I ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Aviva, saying they were reviewing my life insurance coverage, but I don’t even have insurance with them. Then he started asking for my personal details, so I asked for a number to ring them back on. He said he was just working at an outbound call centre. I told him there must still be a contact number I could use, and then he swore at me and ended the call.

Got a call claiming to be from Aviva, checking if my policy details are correct. They had my name, address and phone number right. Asked if my policy was under 5 years old, and when I said it’s actually more than 5 years, I asked if their system doesn’t show the start date. She said she can only handle policies under 5 years and that someone else would call me back. Just blocked the number.

Got a call today, I picked up after a few rings. They asked for my husband but then used my name. Claimed to be from Marks & Spencer, talking about my M&S credit card - which I don’t actually possess. Mentioned some really outdated postcode and then asked about other cards I might have. When I asked where they were calling from, the person with an Indian accent just said “Marks & Spencer’s goodbye” and hung up on me!!

I’ve resisted picking up, but when I have, it’s just a series of beeps before the line goes dead. It's becoming quite tiresome, honestly. I truly wish there was some method to put a stop to these calls, as they seem utterly dubious; after all, if they had anything worthwhile to say, they'd surely leave a voicemail, which they never do.

Someone called asking for my husband by his name. I told them he wasn't home and asked what the call was about. They refused to tell me since I’m not him and were quite rude. The phone number is definitely in my name. When I asked to be taken off their calling list, they just hung up. I’ve blocked the number now.
