I received a call from someone claiming to be associated with the National Crime Service. Initially, they made it sound quite official, suggesting they were putting together a newsletter to publicly highlight disreputable businesses in my vicinity. Strangely enough, they informed me that my establishment had been picked out as a model of reliability. They reassured me that I wouldn't need to fork out for the so-called 'advert' until it was produced. The trick here is that they send out this newsletter with my business details, claiming it has been shared with thousands of enterprises, but in reality, it's only reaching those gullible enough to cough up for the ad. I've heard of other dodgy schemes like this, including ones involving promotional calendars. It’s downright puzzling how many people fall for these antics!
