Got a call from someone claiming to be from Citizens Advice, sounded like an Asian lady with a strong accent. She mentioned they had access to my credit report and could assist with clearing my debts. Since I’ve got no debts, I just played along to see how the scam goes. She said they’d contact creditors to lower debts but wanted an upfront fee first (no surprise there), plus my bank details to set up a direct debit. I let her go on for about 29 minutes before telling her I wasn’t in debt and that I knew it was a scam. She ended up calling me names and then suddenly hung up on me.
