I take part in a few contests, and recently got a call claiming I’d won something. They then told me I needed to pay £17 per person, per night. When I asked for their Instagram details since that’s where I entered, they couldn’t provide any. Then I requested an email confirmation with the win info, but the bloke, Lee, said they don’t have a standard email for that. When I asked him to just write one up anyway, he said no chance. Definitely a scam, avoid at all costs.

I joined some sort of giveaway on Instagram, but surely the idea of a competition is to actually win something without coughing up money? They were asking me to check out hotels online, but I told them I was tied up and they said they’d call again. Honestly, I’m not picking up next time.

They've called me a few times saying I've won some contest, but I never even took part in anything like that. I've just went ahead and blocked their number.

I got a voicemail from someone named Liam, claiming I’d come second in a competition I apparently entered on Instagram. He said he was from Holiday Retailers and told me I’d won a 2 night, 3 day break for two, valid at any of their hotels across England, Scotland, or Wales. However, to claim it, I was supposed to pay an upfront fee of £17 per person per day plus VAT, supposedly to cover an Advertising Document related to breakfast. The message said to ring back on a free number 0800 070 5220 and ask for Liam. Sounds dodgy to me, definitely seems like a scam.

I got a call that hung up straight away, then left a voicemail saying I’d come second in some kind of Instagram contest. The bloke, Liam from Holiday [something], claimed I’d won a break for 2 nights and 3 days at one of their hotels across England, Scotland or Wales. But apparently, I’d have to fork out £17 a day per person plus VAT upfront to cover “advertising costs” and breakfast. He asked me to ring back on a freephone 0800 070 5220 and ask for Liam. Sounds dodgy to me, probably a scam.

They called saying I’d won second place in some contest but wanted me to pay a fee for advertising or something. It seemed fishy, so I told them to take my phone off their contacts.
