Said they were from Leeds NHS Trust. I didn’t press 1 or 2 like they asked cos it sounded like a scam. They wanted me to do a survey. I called the patient helpline and they couldn’t confirm if the number was legit or not. Might be real, but there’s no clear way to tell. If it’s fake, I’m worried because they seem to know I was recently in a Leeds hospital. The person I spoke to who couldn’t say if it was genuine didn’t seem bothered either. Quite unsettling really.

From what I gather, this number is part of an automated system the NHS uses to book appointments. It’s got a Leeds area code. Perhaps you’ve cancelled something before, and now they’re ringing to set up a new slot. I can’t say for sure if it’s only for the cancer unit or if other departments use it too.

I've recently been told I have cancer, and then got this automated call saying I had an appointment I never heard of before. It only gave me two choices - to go or to cancel - with no other info. When I tried the number, it just went to a voicemail saying someone would call me back, but no details about where the appointment was meant to be. It’s been really upsetting. If patients are going to get calls like this, they should at least be given clear details. This kind of thing needs to stop.

The message instructed to wait and they’d call back - which they did. Another recorded message played, again saying it was the NHS, but then the audio got totally distorted and I could barely catch anything except “Press 9 to hear this message again.” Tried pressing 9 a bunch of times but it just repeated the same broken message. Honestly, this is ridiculous. Relying on faulty tech for something as serious as this is just not right.
