Some woman with an accent called me, her English was really bad and the line was awful, loads of noise in the background like people talking. I thought she mentioned something about Nationwide at first, but then she said something about our washing machine warranty running out. I kept asking which washing machine and what warranty she meant but she just ended the call.

I just received a ring on my phone from a bloke with an Indian accent. He claimed to be from Aviva and asked if my name was correct. Then he wanted to know if I still live at my current address and checked my age bracket. He was trying to find out if I had a life insurance policy with Aviva or if it had been switched to Legal & General. I told him it was still with Aviva. After that, he said thanks for confirming my details and ended the call. I rang Aviva afterwards to report the call. They noted it down and said they'll pass it to their security team to look into it.

Been getting loads of calls over the past few days - most of them silent, but finally spoke to someone and it was another dodgy insurance scam. You’d think with all the tech nowadays they could block these muppets from hassling decent folks. This number rang me like 4 times today. I ignored the first call. Then when it rang the second time, I picked up but stayed silent, and after a few seconds the caller just hung up without saying a word. I put the number on my block list after that, yet it still tried ringing me twice more. If loads of folks are blocking this number, there’s gotta be something dodgy about it. Somebody claimed to be from M&S and wanted to get my name. When I asked why, he just told me to f##k off and cut the call. The guy kept saying “ma’ma” trying to sound polite, but it gave off the usual vibes of one of those call centres in India. Really irritating and such an unwelcome intrusion.

Got a call from this number earlier today. A lady with an Asian accent said she was calling from Nationwide. She mentioned my name and address, but I told her that info was wrong. She asked for my account info to "protect" it. When I said I work in Nationwide’s fraud team and told her the number was being looked into, she ended the call super fast. It's definitely a scam, but it worries me because if they get personal info, especially from older people or those with mental health issues, it could be really harmful.

Some woman with an Indian accent said she was Chloe from British Gas and wanted to make sure I was still using them for my gas and electricity or if I'd switched suppliers. I asked her why she needed that info. She said it was to see if I was having any issues with the service or bills. I told her I'm fine, no problems here, without actually confirming anything :D Honestly, it's a bit daft when they think picking an English name will trick anyone!!

Got a call from someone who sounded like they were from India. They asked if I was (insert name) and then tried to check my postcode. I wasn’t really sure what was going on so I asked who they were, but their answer was unclear. Then they asked for my house number (insert number). I said I wasn’t comfortable giving that out. I didn’t know this number when it rang, so I looked it up here and it confirmed my suspicion that it was likely some kind of scam, so I’m just going to ignore any more calls from it. Since I’ve started checking every unknown number and not picking up, the number of unwanted calls has dropped a lot. It’s a good idea to check if you don’t recognise the number - if it’s something important, they’ll ring back and by then you’ll know if it’s safe to pick up. It’s a bit annoying, but definitely worth it.
