I'm continually bombarded by harassment calls from a company known as Uncle Buck Finance LLC. They cleverly hide their caller ID, bombarding me with an array of different numbers that all lead straight to collections. It’s incredibly frustrating because it makes it rather difficult to simply block these annoying calls. Nonetheless, don't lose heart-keep adding their numbers to your call blocker; it does seem to make a bit of a difference. When you confront them and ask for their details, they tend to shy away, claiming they’re just calling from “UB”. If you press for the full company name, along with their corporation number, ICO number, and FCA registration details, you are well within your rights to request this information. Despite numerous pleas to cease all communications, they continue to ring me multiple times throughout the day and long into the evening, seven days a week. My suggestion? If you're in default on your account, new legislation is attempting to obliterate these outfits. Remember, the maximum interest and charges can never go beyond double the amount borrowed. Challenge the loan itself-you can often have it dismissed by the FCA if you can prove it shouldn’t have been granted in the first place, particularly if you’re already in a precarious financial position. Let’s deprive these companies of their income. They may bully and intimidate, but we must push back. This is a shady organisation that absolutely deserves to be shut down in the public interest. If you find yourself receiving more than a couple of calls from them, don’t hesitate-report each and every one of them as harassment to the Information Commissioner’s Office at www.ico.gov.uk. Be sure to highlight how distressed these calls are making you feel.
