Got a call today at about 12.08 from someone claiming to be with Nationwide. She said they were running a survey and that we could save £800 on our energy bills by using solar panels. When I told her we’d already checked with another company and weren’t eligible, she just kept going. I also said I wasn’t handing over any details since I had no clue who she was representing, but she ignored that too. In the end, she just hung up on me. The caller said her name was Sarah Lucas.

As soon as I answered the call they cut me off. I rang them back right away but the moment it started ringing, they ended the call on their end.

This number has buzzed my phone about 20 times just this week, apparently hunting for someone called Mr Harrison. Every time I explain it's a work mobile and not the right contact, but still no luck. On Tuesday, 11th July, I got another call on my mobile from this very same number, just like on the 8th. The person on the other end had a thick foreign accent and was quite difficult to follow. She said something like, "This is not a sales call, sir, it'll be quick." Then she began reading out my name, address and postcode. She kept asking me questions that only required a yes or no answer. I ended up hanging up. But seriously, how are these people getting hold of our mobile numbers and all our personal address info??

Got a missed call from this number today, 8th July around 10:51am. I’m pretty certain they keep ringing my mobile all the time. I’ve set my phone to only allow calls from people I know, so this showed up as just a missed call.

Whenever those annoying callers ring up, I just leave a recording of Winston Churchill’s “We Shall Fight on the Beaches” speech on the answerphone. The one we always go for is that rallying bit about fighting everywhere. It’s brilliant because they always hang up straightaway once they hear it! Give it a try, it’s proper entertaining! ;-)
