Just got a call from this number, a woman claimed to be from DWP. Like the others, she was an Indian lady asking for the company director’s email. She even got our company name wrong, which made me suspicious straight away. Told her I couldn’t share that info and then the call just cut off :)

Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from the Department of Pensions (DWP). She asked for the email address of the business owner. When I asked what it was regarding, she said something about pension changes. I told her we're already dealing with the DWP and get updates from them regularly. There was a long silence before she just ended the call. # Seems like they’re gathering email addresses and contact info for a scam #

Got a call from this number earlier, a lady with an Indian accent said she was ringing from the Department of Education. She asked for the head teacher’s email as she said she had some private info. I was suspicious and asked a few questions, then she just put the phone down. Tried calling back but the line was dead. Surely a scam call.

Got a call from someone saying they were from the DWP, asking for info about the 'business manager'. They were clearly fishing for personal details from business managers. If a real government office wanted to get in touch, they’d send a letter, not a random phone call. Sounds like a sneaky phishing attempt targeting UK firms and folks, probably coming from a call centre abroad.

I recently received a call requesting the headteacher's number, which prompted me to look up the phone number-turns out it wasn’t from the Department for Education at all. I confronted the caller since all of our information is safely stored on the DfE's secure site. However, they were rather discourteous and completely disregarded my attempts to clarify the situation. We’ve received no less than four calls from folks saying they’re from the DFE, all asking for the Headteacher’s email. We’ve told them it’s on our website and should be on their end too, but they get pretty rude once we say that. When we asked for their DFE ID, they just hung up. Not really sure what the point of this scam is - just trying to get an email address or something - but it’s definitely a nuisance.

The last time this number got in touch, they said they were "with BT", but today they claimed to be "from the DfE". I hung up straightaway when I questioned them. Seems dodgy, so I’m reporting them to the Police once more. I’d suggest everyone else does the same.

I’ve gotten this call a couple of times now, I work as an admin in a school and they said they’re from the DFE wanting the head teacher’s email to send some updates. I told them if they were really from the DFE they’d already have that email. Then they said they need a non-generic email, I told them if they were legit they wouldn’t have to ask for it. After that, they just hung up. No clue what they wanted to send but it definitely didn’t sound legit to me.

She said she was ringing from the education dept, asking for the head teachers name and email. I tried giving her the general email but she insisted on the head’s direct contact as she was sending confidential stuff about the kids. There was a lot of background noise, sounded like a call centre, then she just ended the call.

As a primary school, we’ve had numerous calls from this number. Just last week, they posed as BT, but today they've altered their approach, insisting multiple times that they are from the Department for Education. They are requesting a personal email address for either our Business Manager or the Headteacher. Quite concerning, to say the least!

We’re part of an inspectorate and got a call from this number pretending to be from the DfE, asking for “the headteacher’s email.” It sounded like a hectic call centre. When we explained they’d actually reached the inspectorate and not a school, they just ended the call abruptly.

Got calls from this number quite a few times now, and every time I say something, a woman with an Indian accent just cuts off straight away.

Got a call to my work phone from some bloke saying he was David from Sky Telecom, said they were going to send us legal papers about internet updates! I told him we aren’t with them and don’t want any of their stuff, asked to be taken off their list, but I’m not holding my breath. I’ve emailed the whole team to be careful and not open anything that looks like it’s from "Sky Telecom" or anything like that.

On Monday 21st Nov at about 9.30 am, I got a call on my work phone from a lady who didn’t speak English very well. She said she was from BT and wanted to speak to our IT manager about some upgrades. I asked her a few times which company she was actually with, but she just ended the call. Wouldn’t trust anyone calling from the number 01133438177.

I received an unexpected call purporting to be from the Department of Education, insisting on obtaining the personal contact information of our headteacher. When I politely refused, they slammed down the phone without another word. Truly a bothersome intrusion!

They claim to be BT and keep ringing asking for the manager's email. Seems like a total scam since they won't even try to prove who they are. Really rude whenever you push back. Such a hassle. (btw, I wouldn’t trust BT at all - they’re awful to deal with)

Had a call from a woman with an accent I couldn’t place at about 8:10 this morning, asking for the manager’s email. When I gave her [email protected], she just dropped the call. Probably just trying to get a name to begin some sort of scam.

Just a short while ago I got a call from 01133438177 saying they were from BT and needed my email to send a "speed check" related to my broadband. I told them they should already have it since they’re my internet provider. The person on the phone said their system wasn’t working and it was important to send the email now. I said I wasn’t happy giving my email like that, then the call suddenly ended while I was talking.

I received a call today, despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service. It feels like my preferences are being completely overlooked! I kindly ask that the TPS take action to put an end to these persistent and unwanted interruptions that disrupt my daily routine!

Got a call from a woman with a foreign accent saying she was from "Government Health" wanting my email and phone number. When I got put on hold, the call just ended. We've had loads of calls like this over the last few weeks, they keep asking for a different email and won’t take our usual company one.

A woman rang up, claiming to be from BT, wanting to discuss our business broadband connection. I was a bit sceptical, so I asked her to verify that she was genuinely representing BT. She assured me she was, and when I pressed her about whether it related to our business broadband service, she again affirmed it was. That's when I informed her that we don’t actually use BT for our broadband at all. Suddenly, she hung up. Seems like she wasn’t quite prepared for a chat with the telecoms manager!

I've been inundated with calls this past week from what they claim is BT (pronounced 'Bee Tee’), but clearly, that's not the case. It seems they're just fishing for email addresses. Strangely, they have my company name but refuse to send anything to the official info email they possess. If I have a spare moment, I often enjoy stringing them along until they're thoroughly frustrated. Just a word of caution - make sure you don't divulge any personal details. If they were truly BT, they'd already have that information at their fingertips!

Just like lots of folks, I got a call from a lady saying she was with BT and she quickly asked for my email. When I questioned her, she hung up straight away. Since this seems more like a scam than a sales call, I hear the TPS can’t really do anything about it. It’s really frustrating and quite ridiculous!

Lately, I’ve been inundated with calls from various numbers in the last few weeks. As echoed by others here, they claim to be representatives from BT, seeking an email address for some supposed “system upgrade” or “fibre broadband” nonsense! When I respond with, “If you’re genuinely from BT, you should already have my email,” they promptly disconnect. Honestly, I’ve taken to not even engaging with them anymore; I simply hang up, and it feels quite gratifying!

Got a call from a bloke with an overseas accent saying he was from BT, wanting my email to send some "updates" about our contract. We've had a few calls like this before, so I suspected it was dodgy. I told him we’re not even BT customers, which he said he already knew but insisted on sending the updates anyway. When I asked for more clarity on what he meant, he said since all calls were recorded he wasn’t allowed to share details. I said I was worried it wasn’t a legit call, he just sighed and then ended the call.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from BT, requesting my accurate email address. I challenged her to tell me the one they had on record for my business, but she just invented one on the spot. When I pressed her about her affiliation with BT, she insisted she was legitimate, yet when I asked for a contact number to verify, she abruptly disconnected. Whatever you do, don’t share your email!
