BW Legal are pestering me about a loan I cleared back in 2010. Dealt with them a bit last year, when a debt collector showed up from the county court over a debt I didn’t owe. He checked my documents and walked away, even rang the court to figure out what it was about - supposedly £3500, but the court ended up charging them for chasing a debt that wasn’t real. Got an incredibly rude woman on the phone who kept demanding I verify security info for some private issue. Told her I wasn’t giving any details until she explained why she was calling. She kept going on about letters being sent out (which they've never sent). When I asked if those letters were posted to our old address in the last town, she refused to say! This company seems dodgy and looks like it’s working closely with a fraud outfit called Excel Parking. Supposedly, if you pause even briefly on certain streets, you get slapped with a fine. It’s £60 if you pay up within 10 days, but jumps to £100 if you don’t. 1. Why is it even forbidden to stop anywhere on the road (except motorways)? 2. If it’s illegal for folks to get car info from Vehicle Licensing, how come Vehicle Licensing just hands over that info so easily to dodgy firms like Excel? Whatever you do… don’t engage with them. If they call, don’t admit to anything. Don’t share any personal info that might confirm who or where you are. They’ll keep hassling you for ages. Ignore all their threats about going to court. They won’t actually do anything unless you respond.
